Hi everyone!

I've been battling plugged ducts on my left breast and right when I think its over I discover a lump on my right breast. I do the heat compressions and massage. It gets smaller but now it just wont go away. If I mess with it a lot it hurts. If I leave it alone its fine. I have two more small ones on that side too. At night when I get engorged my right breast hurts more but as soon as I feed on that side it feels better just sore. Has anyone gone through this? I read that it might just be a milk filled cyst (galactocele). I have an appt with my OBGYN next week but I just wanted to see if anyone is going through this. My son will be two months in two weeks and this time around I have an over supply of milk!

Hey!

Well Im in pain after messing with it again last night :( I feel like my milk is backed up around where the two lumps are. I can't seem to empty my breasts out completely either. If I pump that will only make me produce more.I already have an over supply. My appt with Obgyn is next friday for another reason and if the lump doesnt go away by then ill tell her about it. It feels like knot though when I messed with it. I would try to massage it out and it would move and go back to its place!

I wont mess with it anymore! Im taking ibuprofen for inflammation and pain and will continue to do hot compressions. I guess my only fear is that its something else. Thanks so much for the advice!!!

Hello ladies! After a month of battling plugged ducts. I found a cure! Two weeks ago I purchased the medela pump in style and have been pumping during night feedings to completely empty my breasts. And pumping half the day and giving him my milk in bottle. And breastfeeding the other half of they day. I alternate feedings. Pump in the morning. 3-4 hours later breastfeed him. 3-4 hours later pump and feed in bottle. I realized he was not emptying my breasts completely. And on top of that I have an over supply. Its been a week with no plugged ducts! And I feel great. Thank you everyone for your advice!

i would go & see your Dr asap, or a lactation consultant.. I had an over supply of milk 7 a very strong let down refles with my 2nd daughter.. at 1 week of age i developed a lump in my right breast, which quickly developed into mastitis :( i had antibiotics which helped but the lump didnt completely go away. Any way i tried hot & cold compresses, cabbage leaves in my bra...within 6 weeks, id had 4 lots of antibiotics & my mastitis ended in a horrible breast abcess which had to be surgically drained under general anaesthetic & then drained & packed every day for 2 weeks. (i was on endless amounts of painkillers to to keep fever & inflammation down) Just becareful hun, it sounds like you need some help with your lumps before the turn nasty. Good luck & yay for 2 months of breast feeding! :) x

I had a very similar situation with my daughter, I tried everything and nothing seemed to help but the hot compress and actually pressure from a tight sports bra. I would definately call your dr and ask for advise I ended up getting mastosis and had to stop breast feeding when my daughter was 7 months old because of this so take care of it early if you can!

Yup my daughter is 9 months and I actually dealt with that last week. I just kind of just let it pass i didnt mess with it emptied each breast and before I knew it I had forgot about it and it was gone. It was pretty painful but it sounds like your situation is worse than mine. Best advise I can give is stop aggitating it by messing with it! Lol. do what you have been doing(hot compressions/ empty your breasts completely) and go and see your doctor that's the best advise I can give... I hope you get better very soon so you won't be so uncomfortable. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.
