So I never breastfed my first two sons but I am thinking about doing it with my third son. BUT I am lost at how to prepare myself for breastfeeding.

I agree with Megan. Education is SO important. One of my favorite books is "So That's What They're For" by Janet Tamaro. is an excellent resource; it's run by an IBCLC. Find support, either with LLL or a local breastfeeding support group.

Here's my two cents....

I am breastfeeding my 6 day old son and tried unsuccessfully to breastfeed my first daughter.

Read everything you can on this message board and other sources so you know what could potentially happen. Get set for an emotional ride. There will be wonderful moments and frustrating moments. I know people who did it without a problem and I also know many struggles. I am the latter. But I am glad for the efforts I am making for my family and would not trade it. Make sure you are doing what is right for you and your baby.

Best of luck and I wish you much success!
