That's so funny! I think I am going to try the cup method as well. My 21st birthday is coming up and it looks like I won't be doing any drinking :(

I'm still BFing my 2 1/2 yr old on demand. He started to drink BM from a cup at about 6 months when I went back to work as he wouldn't take a bottle. He only started to take a sippy bottle with water in it at christmas 2011 as it was stinking hot at night and I needed to sleep. When he had his expressed milk he would only have it straight out of the fridge or in icypoles unless we were at my parents place where for some weird reason he would only drink it warm.

Both my daughters will drink breast milk cold. It does tend to separate when cold, but gently swirling it should help. And there is no reason not to feed it cold. Warm or cold... it's about the babies preference.

Wow that's so nice to hear from all of you ladies! Ima young
Mom and there are hardly any young women my age who practice even breastfeeding. She has been taking water out of the sippy so I'm trying to put milk in there seeing as how I have to go back to school and work in sept! She loves cold water and doesn't seem to like the room temp expressed milk. Have any of u ever tried cold BM? Ive read that it was ok but I don't know anyone whose ever tried it..

All of my kids were nursed on demand. After 12 months, I did the don't offer, don't refuse method. My first daughter weaned at 17 months.

My twin boys, after about 18 months, I started setting limits. They weaned at 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. They are my last so I won't have any more nurslings

ETA: Forgot to add about the bottles/sippy cups.

My daughter took one at around 6 weeks since I had to go back to work.

My twin boys refused all bottles so they never took one (I was a SAHM). Sippies, just lots of practice. They eventually got it. I think it was closer to a year that I gave it to them.

My son was nursed on demand (with rare exception) until around a year and a half when I started setting some gentle limits. We night weaned at 2. I started introducing a sippy cup with water at 7 months. No clue when he first really drank any on his own.

I have no breastfeeding plans for the future as he was my last and we weaned at 3. :)

My boy Xavier is 10 months and demand feeding still, but has water and toddler milk in a sippy cup. He refuses to feed from a bottle which has stopped me from returning to work:/ one less thing to take of him when his older i guess:)
