This may be a silly question, but in my mind it is VERY close to his food supply. There was a small black thing of some sort on the bottom side of my left breast, I tried to get it out as if I was popping a pimple. My fiancee says that it was probably some sort of abscessed? But now it is infected. Do I need to go to the doctor to get something to put on it, or will my son be ok? I can't relax especially while he is nursing because I'm afraid he will touch it, put his hand in his mouth, and then get real sick or something. Will he be ok to still nurse? Do I need to do anything special? He is only 4 months old, already has a supposed viral infection (cough & low grade fever for about 2.5 weeks now), mild thrush, reflux, and does not tolerate me consuming dairy. We/HE does not need something else right now, plus I think he is teething on top of all of that.

Thank all of you mommies!!!!

Thank you for the reassurance Lisa!!! I was not sure if the infection even being smaller then dime size could some how get into my milk supply. I just want what is best for him and myself.

We have been through a lot, but thank goodness they are smaller things and not as bad as thing could be.

Cover it up with a band-aid and let your baby nurse on that breast. It is important to your health and milk production that he does. Inadequate drainage of that breast can lead to clogged ducts and mastitis. Get lots of rest and watch yourself for signs of mastitis- fever, chills and aches, a red hot breast and a hard lump in the breast. If the spot is infected it may be wise to have it looked at. But it shouldn't be a reason to not nurse on that breast.

It sounds like you two have been through a lot!
