I woke up the other morning with my 4 year old adopted daughter latched on me. It was sensual, not sexual, so I just hugged her & stroked her hair. Is that wrong or should I push her away? I'm not sure how to handle the situation. Any advice?

It's a "little" weird. But dealing with an adopted child is out of my realm of knowledge… so….. I don't know what else to tell you. Maybe someone else will weigh in here.

No it didn't freak me out or anything, like I said it was sensual, maybe even bonding. The 6 year old cuddles with my wife & I too. Just wondering if it was weird. We are still learning to be Mom's.

OK - so your response is really only something you can decide on. You've had her 6 months and this hasn't happened before. Maybe she needed the extra comfort that morning. Many toddlers/preschoolers still use pacifiers. Those are considered "normal" They are designed to replace the comfort of the real thing. If it wasn't a big deal to you, I would just not do anything about it. If it was a big deal to you then you may need to do something to prevent it happening again.

She was in foster care. Had her about 6 months. The girls have their own room. I was asleep & no we don't.

Question for you. Was your 4 year old adopted daughter breastfed up until recently? How long have you had her? How does she normally sleep? And how did she latch on without you knowing it? Weren't you wearing pjs?
