Teething and feeding.

I know Its supposedly a myth that your baby cant bite you while feeding. She does though. Its not a full bite, more like her teeth scraping my nipple. I take her off and re-latch, still i get a pinching pain. She is definitely getting milk too. When i take her off to re-latch she has those cute little milk dribbles. I don't get it. Plus she is currently teething, she got 3 teeth in the past two weeks. So when shes done eating, she bites me. HARD! she made me bleed on one occasion....How can solve this problem? Any pointers?

I thinks so! When we lay in bed and he nurses he scrapes his teeth more then if we are sitting up and I'm "craddeling" him ( he sits on my lap and lays back into my arm).

Oh Gabbys a sassy one as well. When she bites me she laughs hysterically. I`ll try offering the boob to her sooner, maybe that will stop her from scraping me while feeding. Do you thing positions have a factor?

Another tip I received was to tell baby "NO BITING!" in a stern voice. Or saying 'Ouch! That hurts mommy, now you can sit down here for a minute.' BUT ! My little guy still laughs at me and it doesn't help that daddy laughs too! They sure do gang up on me. haha.

My son just cut his first tooth about 2wks ago. I also get the feeling of his tooth scrapping me. Try feeding her right before she lets you know she is hungry, she maybe too hungry by the time you start to feed, happens with my bubby sometimes. I never heard of it being a myth though.
My son also bites, he often plays before even nursing by psyching me out and suckling for a second and then talking, sort of blowing raspberries/spitting, and biting. He bites hard, but has not broken my skin yet.
I was told to take baby off when they bite, put them down and then try again after a few minutes. Doesn't work with my son! He is sassy and a mean little guy! haha. He laughs when he bites me even when I put him down he will re-latch and bite again. It's like he doesn't care.

Ouch.. good for you for not giving up right away! Many moms would, but it's such a shortly painful time :) One idea would be to try and pre-empt the bite. If you can feel your letdown, or watch her swallowing, then use your finger to pop her latch before she is able to bite. She may be looking for more milk, or simply using you as a teether. If you can get her off before she bites, this may help. She may want the other side, or she may just be done for a little bit. Both of mine have gone through stages where this is an issue, but a little re-direction and reminders that we don't bite mama, and being put down when they do - even if it's just for a minute - seems to make a point so they quickly stop doing this.
Good luck, and keep up the good work!
