Weaning Off Breast Milk?? Or Let LO Decide?

My son is 13 months and I'm a first time mom. I love BF but I'm arguing with myself about weaning my LO off. He mainly drinks when his ready for a nap or bed and pacifies during the night. I want to just let him wean himself off. When he's ready he'll stop right?

I agree. If you love it, keep it up. You can always consider weaning at a later stage, but you can't really go back to nursing once your LO has weaned. Just go with what feels right and don't think about it too much.

If you love BF let him wean himself, it isnt hurting anyone and he is only reapping the benifits of BF. also kuddos for being able to breastfeed for 13mo, my body just wouldnt keep up for my LO.

I don't think he'll still be nursing when he hits high school if that's what you're worried about :) Just kidding. Yes, he will wean when he's ready. The average weaning age (world wide) is 2-7 years. My daughter just turned 2 and her interest is slowly decreasing. It's a very slow and easy process when you follow their lead. I am due with baby #2 in July and I feel like I could gently wean at this point if I wanted to (or needed to), but I'm going to keep doing what we're doing because it works for us. If you don't think you and your baby are ready to wean then you don't have to. Follow your mommy gut and do what feels right to you.
