When do you get your period back?

My daughter is almost 9 months old and I still have not gotten my period back yet. Not that I'm complaining, but I definitely don't want to get pregnant again yet. I have been exclusively breastfeeding and she just started eating solids consistently over the last month (she refused to eat solids right away so we waited). Is it normal for it to take this long?

it is normal, especially if you waited on the solids thing. with my first two babies I didn't get my period back until almost a year for the first, and just after for my second. I nursed my first for 15 mo. and the second for 18 mo. we started solids at about 6 mo. Every womans body is different, and reacts different to each baby. I wouldn't worry until you have her pretty much weaned...until then, just enjoy not having one!!!

My son is 9 months this week and I still haven't got mine back, he started solids at 4 months but is still breastfeeding day and night. Fingers crossed it lasts until at least a year!

My son will be 11 months on the 8th, and I still have not had mine... It is the greatest, lol... just make sure you are using protection!

It's normal, my oldest was about 9 months old when I got it back, I've heard it can stay away for as long as you bf..but with my second daughter I ended up preggo before I got it back, so just be careful!

Yes, it is normal. I breastfed my son until he was 20 months and I didn't get my period back till he was 18 months old. It varies from person to person. Some get it back right away, others don't.

Like the others said it's totally normal. Everyone's body responds differently. Consider yourself lucky. I was looking forward to months without my period but it returned at 6 weeks (yes, WEEKS) post postpartum even thought I was EBF and cosleeping. My OB just patted me on the back and said I was 'just one of the unlucky ones'. BF is not 100% effective as birthcontrol and you can ovulate before you get a period. You can talk to your dr. about birthcontrol (there are some you can use while nursing) or use condoms if you're not ready to get pregnant again. But enjoy not having a period. It's possible it won't come back until you completely wean your daughter.

i have 4 children and although i don't recall exactly how long with the first 2 i'm pretty sure it was by 9 months. with my 3rd it was at 7 months. baby #4 is almost 10 months ow and i haven't started mine yet. i did get a tubal ligation done when he was 5 months old however, so that may be slowing mine down.

With my first son, I got it back when he was 14 months. We were co-sleeping for his whole first year, so I think the night nursing had a lot to do with it.

With my second son, I got it back when he was 11 months, but we did not co-sleep for as long with him.

I got mine back when my son was 8 mo but a friend of mine didn't for well over a year. Each woman is different!

You sound exactly like me! When my son was 9 months we slowly started him on solids. It was interesting because I started my period when he was 12 months because he was eating so much. Then he got sick and only breastfed again for awhile and I stopped for a few months...The DAY we weaned him we got pregnant. :) Good luck and congrats on making it 9 months breastfeeding.

You can look into Sympto-thermal method, if you want to have a better idea of when you are starting to ovulate again. My son is 7 months old, and I haven't started to cycle yet, but I am seeing signs that I think I am going to be starting soon. All you do is take your Basal temperature every morning at the same time, and record your cervical signs. You will need to learn how to record and understand the signs. I learned through a program called Serena. good luck!

Sure is. Varies greatly with each individual. Enjoy it while you dont have it! I got mine back when my son was about 13mo, and had a couple irregular ones before falling pregnant with our second (planned preg). So I am very happy to say I have only had a couple periods since 2008.

I got mine back the week my son turned 7mo. It pissed me off! :)

At that point, he wasn't swallowing any solids (just playing), and I nursed what felt like all day and night.

So yeah, it's different for every woman.

My son is almost 9mo and I haven't gotten another period. I don't know what's up with that.

Yep, it varies for every woman. My daughter was 11 months when mine came back. We started solids at about 8 months, but she didn't eat much until well after a year.
