Who Knew?

Who knew I would miss her banging her head against my breast in anticpation of what's to come? Who knew I would miss the way her hand curled around my fingers as she nursed? Who knew I would miss rolling over in bed and making sure she's latched on just for her comfort? Who knew I would miss having to go pump? Who knew I would miss buying breast pads?

It's been a solid 3 weeks since I last nursed. I cried after a week...once I realized she'd weened herself. My brain screamed " she's only 7 1/2 months old, I can't stop now But I had to take a break, this stupid infection wasn't getting better. I finally have an appointment this friday....weeks too late. It's over, my wondeful bond is over. Now she's on the bottle...she sees the bottle come and gets excited, squeals in anticipation, like she did for me once upon a time. She leans back and goes to town on the bottle as I watch in jealousy wishing it was me providing her the nourishment hse needs.

Man who knew ending the breastfeeding experience would be so sad?

I agree with Rachael.. it doesn't *have* to be over if you don't want it to be. Especially since it's only been a few weeks. There are moms who have relactated after not nursing for YEARS. Sorry you're feeling sad today.

It is sad to end especially if it is before you and your little one are ready. You may be able to start up again. Good luck!
