twin boys want the breast all the time and fight over it

hi, i have twin 13 month old boys. they fight over the boob constantly. if i hold one, he goes for the breast and then the other one starts crying/going for the breast as well. i feel like they are doing it out of competition with each other, more than wanting it ALL the time. although i do understand that many one year olds want it all the time...

my problem is, they are screaming and crying over the boob nonstop. it's not fun and i don't want this to be the reason i wean. (everyone is telling me to wean, of course.) does anyone have any experience with this?

i have also tried to teach them nursing manners like "it's not time now, or wait 5 minutes until your bro is done" etc. i am getting huge temper tantrums not compliance ;)

any words of wisdom would be great.

I nursed my twin boys-one til 3 1/2 and the other at 4. We went through this!

I didn't tandem when they were younger, but found it necessary to tandem at that age because of the behavior you described. If one would nurse, the other would HAVE to nurse.

Hang in there! It's a whole new dynamic with nursing twin toddlers!

Let me preface this by saying: I have not been there. So forgive me if this thought is way off base. But I don't see another reply, so I'll try. Is there ANY way you can nurse them at the same time? As for nursing manners, I have a 26 mo. old, and she is JUST staring to put up with having to wait a bit - but usually only when she suggests it and I acknowledge - heh, that is a good idea, as soon as we get to . . . .we can nurse!

Good luck!
