Hello,
My name is Rachel, my daughter Kaitlyn is 1 1/2 and has been diagnosed with Infantile Scoliosis and Chiari 1 malforamtion. They were both diagnosed in May of 2010.
Since May 2010 her neurosurgen has been monitoring her every 3 months, for just about a year we've seen him every 3 months. She hasn't shown any odd symptoms from it and he didn't think it was going to get worse. When first diagnosed the Chiari was very small.
But 2 weeks ago they did a repeat MRI on her brain and spine and it was found that the Chiari has grown quite a bit more. He wants her to have decompression surgery and we're scheduled on the 29th of this month.
He believes her scoliosis is more than likely a result from the Chiari and if we treat the Chiari... her Scoliosis treatments should respond better. She wears a scoliosis cast for treatment.
I am SO scared about her surgery and SO nervous..
She's still a baby :-/ is there anyone who can talk about this with me? or share advice about surgery day? thx
Rachel
