Has anyone ever experienced their autistic child not eating for more than a few weeks?

Hello, I am the mother of a 5 year old little boy who has Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. My son has eating issues. 7 weeks ago he stopped eating completely. This was not the first time this has happen. Last year he didn't eat anything for 3 months. He does, however drink PediaSure Sidekicks in Vanilla only. He doesn't drink water, juice, or yogurt drinks. He only drinks these in Vanilla. Up until he stopped eating completely he only ate plain cheese flavored goldfish crackers. He has only ate goldfish and nothing else for over a year. I am very concerned. I am thankful that he drinks the Pediasure but I know it is keeping him from wanting real food. He has no understanding of communication, he is completely non verbal. We have tried withholding Pediasure to see if he will eat, but he gets so dehydrated so quickly and he doesn't trust us when we have to give him the Pediasure back. I am afraid he is going to stop drinking all together. Has anyone ever had this problem with their autistic child or their child with Sensory Processing Disorder? I am terrified that he is going to end up needing a feeding tube if something does not happen.
