I am probably going to be purchasing the Math-U-See curriculum for my kids, pre-school and kindergarten. I have a friend who used it with her kids and highly recommended it, just wondering if any of you have any experience with it :)

We have always used MUS...my dd is in 5th grade and tested upper high school last year. It is a fantastic curriculum and makes so such sense. Yes, you cannot move on to the next part until your child has mastered his current lesson, but that is so that you are sure they have learned the basics and aren't strugging. As far as testing below the average, I disagree. My kids have always tested higher than their peers...most of the time, many grades higher. It is a program that makes sense and tells you why to do things instead of making them just do it. I HIGHLY recommend it! Good luck!! Ali

Many moms in my co-op love this curriculum. I tried it last year. The videos are great, I like the way he helps you understand what you are doing. The drawbacks for us were: They aren't supposed to move on until they have memorized the facts they are working on, and my kids don't memorize well so I feel like we lost a year of math; If you are required to test your children or they end up back in school, they will be behind through the first few years of MUS, because of the step by step approach it takes, as long as you know this ahead of time it's not a problem.

I have not used but I have 2 friends who have and they like it however they are both using the 6th grade and above versions, neither of them used it when thier kids were younger. I know one of them used Making Math Meaningful and swore by it, it uses the manipulatives also.
