Please pray for me regarding my job....
I started this job two months ago working retail at the mall. I am having a hard time working there and put my notice in 3 weeks ago, but the owner wouldn't let me quit (she gave me a guilt trip). So, we talked and she scheduled me 3 days a week instead of 5, which helped some. But, lately, I have been troubled. We sell Christian t-shirts, but other secular ones, too. She blasts secular music in the store. I feel like we deceive the Christians that come in from seeing the Christian t-shirt in the window... they come in believing this is a "Christian store". When it is really a lot of eveything.
Also, the owner told me last week to be prepared because I will be working 4 days next week. She gave me the WHOLE Father's Day weekend off so I can be prepared to work the 4 days. I am told to come in on Monday, June 18th to work. The new schedule is not posted, but the owner, as she was leaving the store, informs me that I am working the next 5 nights! What?! I feel like I was tricked! The rest of the night went horribly for me because of that and other things she said to me (don't have time to go into). I am a mom of four children and a Christian woman trying to help my husband out financially, but I feel this job is costing our family... I keep thinking that oil and water don't mix, that where there is light, darkness can't exist, and not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. My husband says tonight to go in and instead of giving a notice, just tell her that my last night is this Saturday...
PLEASE pray for me, I feel like I need to be out of this place due to deception and other areas I'm not comfortable with. Pray that God delivers me in time and that I can find something else to help our family out financially. Thanks so much! :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Carrie! I love that we can come here, tired and discouraged, and have wonderful women to lift us up and put us back on our way.

There's an old song I love: 'Some through the water, some through the flood, some through the fire, but all through the Blood, some through great sorrow, but God gives a song, in the night seasons and all the day long.' God NEVER brings us any place where He can't get us out. That's why I love Him so much!

God bless, honey

Hi Carrie S.: You're most welcome. I am also grateful for the Circle of Moms Christian Moms group because I am always very encouraged reading about other people's stories that are so similar to my own. We find strength in each other as we lead each other to God.

You mentioned in an earlier post that you have always wanted to start an internet business, and in your reply to my post you mentioned that you could write a book about what you and your husband have been through. Why don't you? I'm sure there are many other women out there like you who want to live for God and God alone, who are struggling with the worldliness surrounding them. Since you've decided to stay home with your family, perhaps while the kids are in school you could find time to write. It isn't difficult to write your story, especially since you're passionate about it. You can also write children's books, uplifting stories based on Biblical principles. You can never have enough bedtime stories for kids based on God's love. Whatever God leads you to write, the page is blank and waiting for you to let Him lead you.

Don't worry if you've never written before. God will give you the words and He will help you every step of the way. And, you can even publish as an e-book on the internet, rather than print for your first book. This would keep the cost down. With all the tools out there, it's not difficult at all.

If you're interested let me know. There are a few sites I can forward to you that might help you get started. None of them overtly claim Christian foundations, but you can choose what works for you from the list.

All I can say is "that is sooo sweet". Your words brought tears to my eyes. You must have great testimonies about what God's done for you and your child! Thanks for the encouragement and the scripture verses. I will definitely meditate on them. I need those words!I feel like a great shift is about to come our way.

Hi Carrie. I agree with Linda, sounds like the Holy Spirit is leading you away from this job.
God will be faithful to you and help you find another. He will open that door. Keep seeking his will for your life.
Its wonderful that you are trying to help out your husband financially. Looking back, I wish that I had done that for my husband.
I'll be praying for you too.
God bless.

Shelley-Ann,
That's good to hear, you are at peace and enjoying life more. This is a tough and lonely road we are on, but God is so faithful and good to us. I thank Him that He is so close and always by our side although we can't "feel" it at times. His promises will come true cause He knows you and your heart's desires. He is the most faithful friend we can ever ask for!

Also, I forgot to mention, my husband said yesterday that he can tell people are praying for us. He feels closer to God now than he has in a while (we've been thru sooo much). But, it's not an overwhelming "high" he's own, it's just a knowing that God is here, he's sovereign, and is helping us step-by-step, day-by-day. I know it has to do with all the ladies praying from COM.

I'm so grateful to have met you and many of the other ladies through this site. Also, I have taken your advice in writing and I have started blogging some. Maybe I'll share that blog, soon. *blush* (I'm a little shy....)

Blessings...

Hi Carrie: Great to hear that you are moving on from that job and absolutely wonderful news about the bigger place. I know what it's like to need more room. Being able to share the good news of Christ's great love for us must have been an amazing experience for you in a job that was far from that. Let's hope that your words of encouragement help the young lady.

Thank you for your prayer. It is very comforting to know that others are praying for me. I'm doing ok, pushing forward. Some days are better than others, as it is with everyone, but the understanding that God knows my heart, knows what I need, and is working in my life is keeping me going. I'm learning how to rely on Him more each day, and this is making a difference. Like you, I feel more at peace with my life now than ever before.

Keeping you in my prayer.

Shelley-Ann,
Thanks for asking. Yes, the job is over! It ended Thurs. night. I feel so much more at peace and thankful that I don't have to think about it anymore. But, God did use the job to help us get further ahead financially. And now, we are in the process of moving 3 miles down the road to a bigger place (which we have desperately needed)! And the best part is that it is only $50/month more than what we pay now! So, the job indeed helped, although, it got stressful and a little annoying. God is doing more than we can think or imagine, we're just walking by faith and believing He is control. We're looking forward to the new transition!
Also, I was able to speak to the new sales assoc. on the last day I worked. She is new in Christ, but I was able to share how about the great love of Christ. She feels a little inferior and somewhat intimidated by the owner and her BF, but I was able to share how people can make us feel certain ways, but is that what God says about us?! No, God says we are worthy, we are loved, we are His children. God judges righteously, but man make judgements based on the otuter appearance, money, and degrees, etc. I only pray this young girl doesn't get pulled in by the ways of the world to try and find acceptance. But, that she would look to Jesus.
Shelly-Ann, how are you?! Praying for you as well as the other Christian moms on here...

Life is very discouraging sometimes. No matter what we do, regardless of how hard we try to do the right thing, say the right words, and be good people, there's a force out there waiting to knock us down at every chance it gets. We battle not against flesh and blood, ladies, and we certainly don't have the the might to do it on our own. One of my favorite texts is Isaiah 41:10--

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

It's a reminder that we are never alone. And when I get really, really, down, a voice inside reminds me that He who calmed the storm can calm the storm in me and around me.

Carrie, it's been two days since you posted that your last day was within reach. How are you doing? Have you said your last goodbyes?

Carla: You know Jesus, and you know what he has done for you in the past. He will do it again. In the meantime, I pray that you find peace and love, and that you find the silver lining behind the dark clouds.

Stay strong, ladies, the good news is that greater is He that is within us than he that is within the world!

Carla,
I will definitely be praying for you!!! All I keep thinking today is," with man it is impossible, but with God ALL things are possible"!!!
I don't know if this verse applies to where you are at this time... but I hope it helps! I know when the Isrealites were being delivered, the Egyptian army came charging after them. But, God parted the Red Sea and told Moses and the people, don't be afraid, don't freeze up, but move! And so all of God's people were able to walk through the water, escape the enemy, and were saved when they reached the other side! And were able to witness God plunder the enemy under the mighty waters!
I just pray, right now, Carla, that God would intervene on your behalf and take vengenance on every force that is coming up against you. I pray that he would plunder the enemy for you because He knows you and loves you.
And I pray that as you walk through waters you will not drown and as you walk through the fires, you will not be burned. You will come out of this shining as gold purified by the Refiner and the Maker.
Love ya and be blessed on this journey....

I will continue to pray. I, too, have been going through several trials this last week, and am physically and emotionally spent. I think Satan has amped up his efforts on the Christians, and we need to be vigilant. He goes about like a roaring lion seeking who he may destroy. We KNOW he wants the Christians gone, one way or the other! So, pray for me, pray for each other, that we will stand strong against the wiles of the devil, and that we will be a witness that, even though we are persecuted, we will NOT be moved!

God bless, honey

Thanks to everyone that has been praying for me and this job situation! I have tonight and tomorrow night and the job will be over!!!
It has been an interesting journey and I have talked to some interesting people and heard some interesting stories on this job.
But, pray that I stay wise and keep my heart right and my words few, cause there has been a lot of strange things going on there....
For 1, I have been finding a lot of misplaced items in the store that I have been picking up, cleaning up and putting back in the right areas. There have been small items hidden in suitcases and tucked under t-shirts, etc.
Two nights ago, a co-worker and I did our walk through and we were finding hidden items every where! Some areas were so messed up, it looked like it was done on purpose, not by customers eager to find a great bargain.
So, last night, the co-worker confronted the sales assoc. that left the store before we did and asked if she was responsible for doing that to the store. The sales assoc. admitted that before she left, the owner of the store (which is her aunt) talked to her on the phone and told her to do it. WHAT?!
I laughed about it with the 2 girls. But, the longer the night went on, the more frustrated and aggravated I got! I have worked there for about 3 months and find they still don't trust us?! The owner and her BF both know I serve the Lord, but it is so funny how they make us work twice as hard at the job cleaning up and putting back what they have messed up, and even asking if we have seen certain items, as if they are accusing us of stealing from the store! I feel I am working around insanity!!!
Please pray for me the next two nights that I stay on my toes and watch my every word. Continue to pray that we continue towards the heart of God and follow his lead, for my husband has lately been dealing with certain aggravations on his job, as well (his job is kinda connected to my job).....
Thanks. Blessings....

Hi Carrie S.:

I sent you the email with some useful sites. Let me know how things go with this. Glad to know that you're sticking to your decision. Anybody who tells you that you can't get on without them clearly hasn't met my Jesus!

Angela made a good point. "Oh good! Since you have experienced staff only too willing to return, I can now quit with a clear conscience!"

Take that Ms. I Need You... wait... You Need Me! Ha! Our God is bigger than you.... and your store... and your feeble attempt at stressing out Carrie S. and keeping her from doing what God wants her to do. So there! lol.

God is on your side, Carrie S.

Psalm 118 verses 5-8.
I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a broad place. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? The LORD takes my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Angela,
Thanks for asking. I agree...
I have stayed and worked 3-4 days each week. But, I have just turned in my 2 week notice and will be leaving Fri. July 27th. She did try and "persuade" me again to stick around just a little longer to help her out with "another busy weekend- tax weekend". I stood my ground and told her , no, I can't. (She has 4 other employees to help her!)
But, she did "let me know" that other ladies have come back to her begging for their old jobs. I believe that those words are out of offense and a little bit of pride, as well as her thinking we cannot make it without her and her business.
I'll tell you those words got me down a little bit, but I believe with you all praying, my hubby praying, and the scripture verses I have been reading lately... it's going to get me through...
I am REALLY trying to hold onto a faith that is small but could really change things!
Angela, thanks again for inquiring and praying! :)

All I keep hearing is My God shall supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Sis, I have learned that God wants to show us how much we really trust Him. Your Source, Your true source, is now, was then, and ALWAYS WILL BE, the Lord our God. He will supply all of your needs... I wish I could give my day by day testimony!!! but suffice it to say. the very season that I made the decision to walk with Christ truly, I, a single mom; lost my job, found out I was pregnant & was being evicted.... today I have not worked a "job" since my birthday (9 mos after after my baby girl was born) She is 8 years old! God has sustained us I will share with you what He gave me, it has been my meat... whenever I thought I would faint. Matthew 6:25-34 I would even like to suggest you start at 24... amazingly God prefaced His position with reminding us of ours. He clearly is ordering the steps of His family He is going to use you each in a mighty way. He is God alone! Be blessed, He is in control.

Shelley-Ann,

Thank you SO much for pointing that out. It was so nice for you to notice. My husband does love me very much and I am so thankful he supports me, lifts me up, and even covers me (in prayer, in the washing of the Word, in biblical advice, as well as his love). He has been a rock for me for I get led astray easily... through emotions, people's advice, etc. But, God has really used him to strenghten me and help me see things in a different light.

My husband and I could even write a book about things we've gone through and seen over the last few years. We will be married 10 years in April 2013. Many people were upset that we were getting married, some thought that we should be with other people, others thought it wasn't God's will, and others looked our past and thought, surely not, did God really join these 2 together?! LOL. It wasn't funny at the time, but we even had family members come up and try to stop our wedding... but, we can't stop God!

This has been a tough journey. Satan has used people to try and hurt and hinder our relationship, not just with each other, but with God as well. But, we have had to be like Abraham and Sarah and get away from everything and everybody that has been "too familiar" and break ties and move to a different area. We are on our own... just our immediate family. God is in control and we have to have complete faith in him to see us through and believe that he wants us to have a "new generation" be raised up in godly principles and in true worship. We have to raise our children in Him and away from influences that are not of God. So, here we are... praying, hoping, and believing for newness. Still loving each other stronger every day and loving the Lord cause He has been faithful and has seen us through some REALLY hard times. We have had to forgive people and forgive ourselves for allowing people to speak WAY TOO MUCH into our marriage, our raising of children, and even about our relationship with God. But, I am reminded today that He makes all things new! And I read this morning about forgetting what is behind and pressing on towards the goal ahead...(Phil. 3:13-14).

I pray for you,,, that in everything, you can press on and press in, knowing that you have a God that really loves you and is taking care of you in every way!!! Blessings...

Oh! And I am SO thankful for Circle of Moms and all the Christian women that have given wisdom, godly counsel, and lifted my family up in prayers, cause God knows we can really use the support and encouragement! Thanks again!!!

Hi Carrie S.: This is just an observation about your post. "My husband says tonight to go in and instead of giving a notice, just tell her that my last night is this Saturday..." Sounds liike he really loves you and supports you. Don't know why I felt compelled to point that out since it's kind of off topic, but when I read it I thought "how nice, another happy marriage." I will pray that you feel God's presence, guiding you, and that your family remains strong.

Thank you, Carrie, but I haven't always been wise ;) If you stay in our community long,l you will see through my posts that we struggled terribly, made horrible mistakes and generally screwed up what God had given us. I fence-sat til I was 50! I HAD no strong woman to tell me what to do, or how to find the God of the Heart. I had plenty of religion, but none of the relationship that is vital for being a Christian in the first place! My life has been an example of what NOT to do! I will be ever grateful that Jesus and the Holy Spirit saw something in me, and I think it was that I loved Them, even if I didn't know what to do right, I loved with what I knew. They looked at my heart and said 'I think Carla has a faith that, if we can just get her on the right path, she will tell the world about Us'. It has been a long, and sometimes ugly road, but we are finally there, at least on the right path ;)

I see in you, Carrie, that you are a God-Chaser. Those are few and far between. The Spirit will be with you, to help you along. Some people are content to go to church every Sunday and join the church groups--others want more. THOSE are the people God is looking for. So, honey, be strong, read your Bible and HEAR what the Spirit is trying to tell the world.

God bless, sweetheart!

Father, keep Carrie and her family in the palm of Your hand. Direct them in the ways You would have them go, and to look neither to the right or to the left, but to stay on the path You have ordained for them. Give Carrie wisdom and inventiveness in teaching her children at home. Be in the school room with them, and teach them things like in Jeremiah 33:3--'call on Me and I will answer, and show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not'. Holy Spirit, speak--to the children, to Carrie, to her husband. Let the people who watch them marvel that, even though they may not have the world's possessions, they have riches beyond human concept. Let them be a mighty witness of Your love and care for us. In Jesus' Name, amen.

God bless, sweetheart

Just an update:
I have continued to work this job about 3-4 days a week. I will be giving a 2 week notice tomorrow. I am ready to get out of this job and move ahead to something else... which will be teaching my 2 oldest boys at home. Thank you for ALL your prayers concerning this job thing. I feel like God's grace has helped me through this summer working there and the prayers have definitely helped! Please continue to pray that we find a creative/inventive way to make money and have our own business same how (some day in near future). Please pray that God continues to sustain us and help my hubby as he continues to work while I stay at home with our 4 children. PLEASE pray that we won't lose the vision God put in us years ago....
Thanks,
Carrie :)

Angela,
All I can say is "WOW!" That sounds like an awesome job that NEVER gets boring. You must be a great multi-tasker with a huge heart for the disabled. I believe those people you work with have a special place in God's heart! Continue to do a great job and thanks for sharing the opportunities that you have....
As far as me... still praying... hoping one day I can open up a thrift store... I would have more freedom to minister in different ways... provide clothing, furniture, or helping to pay elec. bills for people in need or just pray and encourage folks that are discouraged. But, by doing this I would need lots of wisdom and discernment and right judgement in helping those in need (I believe this is where my husband could be a huge asset!)

Thanks to everyone who is praying for me and my family! I can actually feel your prayers and it encourages me to keep going....

You're welcome, sweetheart. Trying to be salt and light in a world of darkness is difficult. You say you have a heart for the poor--have you looked into some sort of work through a rescue mission or something similar? I know our poor rescue mission scrounges for money, and I don't know if you live in a big town where they might pay their employees--but God knows where your job is.

Remember that faith is stepping out on nothing, and it holds you up.

God bless, honey, God is pleased with you, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Carla,
Your message and prayer meant so much to me! I cannot help but cry.... it is very tough living and working in this wordly system where it seems that everyone wants you to almost compromise for the dollar bill. I am really tired of having to "tolerate" some things that are done and said in that store, as well as the loud music (where I have been convicted also by the Holy Spirit to keep away from). It seems if you just whisper the name of Jesus or give God glory for what He has done, people get offended and cringe. Then you are pegged out....etc. I am still waiting and watching for the open window! I trust God will dismiss me from there in time and give me complete peace and guidance for the next step.
Thank you for your wisdom and prayers and I really believe you are a true gift from God and a powerful minister of His word! (please continue to pray for my hubby and I have a heart for the poor, oppressed, and the outcasts... those that no one wants to go near... it's funny how I've been working in the mall ($$$) of all places these last 2 months! *L*).

Where do I start? I personally do NOT listen to secular music. It's not that I hate it, quite the opposite, actually. I grew up in the 60s and 70s and am a head-banger. But the message and the memories, especially the memories the music brings back are NOT good for me. It takes me back to a time the Lord has delivered me from, and it's like alcohol to me--if I listen to just one song, if I take just one sip of alcohol--I am throwing everything Jesus has done for me out the window. Not gonna chance it!!!!!!!

This work environment has become intolerable for you, and I agree with Linda, that it's time to go. God NEVER closes a door without having a window open for us. Look for the window. God will ALWAYS bless us when we put Him first, as you are doing.

Father, You see Your daughter's love for You, and her fervor to serve in Spirit and in Truth. She feels there IS no Truth there, so we ask, in the Name of Jesus, that you lead her to the place you have prepared for her, where she can serve you in the fullness she has in her heart. Bless their home, and her husband, for standing with her in this decision. Watch over their finances, and let them know where they can economize so they can get by with less. Bless the children as they watch their parents stand for their principles in a world gone nuts. Amen.

God bless, darling.

But, I believe the Holy Spirit is prompting me to go that route, I feel that you gave me a confirmation. Thanks!!! Be praying that I hear from the Lord what to create and sell... Carrie, I will pray that God leads you to a job which won't sacrifice crucial time with your family....or teach you how to make do with less. Everytime you are in the world, you will not mix because you are not of this world. However, the deception of this woman combined with the voice of the Holy Spirit (I believe) are telling you that you should NOT work here. I agree with your husband. Saturday should be your last day.

Is there something you could do at home? Make soap, or sew children's clothes, or something... and sell it online? That way you could still be with your children. Or even do childcare for other mothers.

Follow God's leading...he will show you the next step. We walk by faith not by sight.
