I am confused

Sometimes I get so frustrated with others who proclaim to be christians, i.e. followers of Christ, but they pick and choose what the want to believe in scripture. Either it is the devine revelation from the God or it is not. Either it is the truth, or it is not. How can this happen? and if you are not following all that Christ says than can you rightfully say you are a Christian?

that is the human side of us... we think we can pick and choose what to believe... that we know exactly what God means.... boy are we in for a big .surprise..... here are a couple things to think about.... we are not supposed to judge people....also every one is at a different stage in their walk with only get out of it what you put into it...God chooses to reveal things in His time at different stages of your life... so He might not of revealed these certain truths to these people yet....

Just keep your Christian walk real.....walk in love ,,, do not judge people for what they don;t yet understand.... let people see Jesus through you .. in the way you act ,love them unconditionally as Jesus did...we will never be perfect until we get to heaven...

i have to tell you my husband and i have been disappointed more from our christian friends than from our non christian friends... why ... because we are all sinners i guess... my mother who has been a christian 40 plus yrs ... doesn;t walk in love at all... and i don;t know why but she is the only one who has to answer to God... my sister is a baby christian and thinks she has the bible memorized but doesn't think she has to honor her mother or father.... i can;t figure it out.... Sinners we all are is all i can say

Everything posted is spot on! I will add just a thought. When Jesus started His ministry, there were many men who wanted to join Him, but He only chose 12. And 1 out of the 12 was the one who would betray Him. Of the remaining 11, He was constantly correcting them, chastening them, challenging them, and encouraging them to step up. Even during the most horrendous time of His life, not one disciple showed up to stand by His side; but they were one of the first people He went to after His resurrection.

Here's my point. Even Jesus had to contend with the in consistency of man. No matter how many miracles they saw, no matter how He taught them the truth, they struggled with being human. But He loved them anyway; He taught them anyway; He prayed for them anyway.

And I beleive that is how we are to treat those who proclaim to be followers of Christ!

God Bless!

Amen! We have to walk in love constantly. It's a challenge b/c we don't possess that perfect love. But we still must try to get there. For the op, when I struggle in this area I remind myself that His love is likened to the love I have for my children. I have to constantly redirect their action. Constantly remind them to pick up their toys, to pray, etc. And when they make a mistake, they are forgiven, my love for them doesnt lessen and I pray more and more for them. It is the same with others in your life. Pray and forgive. Then do it again.

Yes it is a relationship that you have with Jesus , Just like you share with your friends Jesus wants to be part of your life too .

Lisa! We all need that reminder. That's why we are encouraged to bare oneanother burdens....Girl I will probably need your encouragement and words of wisdom in the days to come!

Be Blessed,

thank you Tera, that was encouraging. It reminds me (which sometimes I need a lot of reminding) that I can't stop talking with christians that don't walk the walk, I need to work with them as Jesus did. I am greatful that we have prayer, other wise I don't know if I would be able to do it....

We can't make others believe, or live what they confess, but we can live the Word of God in our own lives each and everyday, being living examples for others both non-Christians & those professing to be Christian. Outside of that we can pray for others. Even as Heather mentioned scripture says there are those who will say to Jesus LORD, LORD & He will say I have never known you.

There are many who will call Jesus Lord, and he will say I never knew you. The best thing you can do is if they are close to you, follow the instructions in Matthew 18 if they are sinning against you. Show them where Scripture says they are wrong. Most defiantly pray for them, but also remember Philippians 1:6 says that He who began the good work in us will continue it. None of us are perfect, but God is working in us. We all need grace, but we also need to be open to God's Word. If they are not willing to accept God's Word as truth in a matter, pray for God to soften their hearts to His Word.

Jill that is a great way to put it. We can't control others walk with
Christ. My Pastor does say, for those who upset you or hurt you, stay far enough away that you can still love them. That means something different for every person in your life. Be encouraged that God loves us and forgives us when we make the stupid mistakes and mess things up, but we also have to remember those around us can see when we mess up and so
God may forgive us, but they now have a different view of us and of God.

Thats where we need to pray for them!! We cannot make people believe but we can pray that they seek the correct path.

”A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5)

Thus says the Lord, Your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.” (Isaiah 48:17)

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalm 32:8)

“For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.” (Psalm 48:14)

“The Lord will guide you continually …” (Isaiah 58:11)
