Diaper Rash

Ok... This isn't just a typical rash... It is almost considered extreme, it just hasn't gotten to the point of bleeding yet. My 17 month old has had it now for almost 4 weeks. It doesn't seem to bother her more than just itching, but when I put something on it, she seems ok. I have taken her to the doctor, and they said I am doing everything right, and to just keep trying. It's not a yeast rash or anything like that. But it won't go away!! It will look a little bit better for part of the day, usually after I let her run around naked for a bit to air out. Then over night, even changing her 2 or 3 times throughout the night, it gets worse again. Here are the things I have tried, and please, if you know of anything else, let me know! I just want my poor baby girl's bottom to clear up!!

Bordeaux's Butt Paste
Corn Starch
Dr. Scholl's for Her Cracked Skin creme

I don't use wipes on her unless she poops and it's absolutely necessary. Doc said extra wiping irritates it more. I let her soak in water in the tub, which seems to help, but again... over night, it gets worse. I let her run around naked, which is extremely messy, and trying on my patience!! I just don't know what to do. There HAS to be a solution!! Please help!!

It could be an allergy to the diapers. My son was allergic to something in the disposables. If you're already using cloth diapers, give them a rinse with vinegar instead of fabric softener.

It could be something she is eating......think about things with a high acid level that she may be eating. My doctor had me smash a Rolaid tablet and add it to some "butt creme", ie desitin or balmax or whatever you have and use it as a paste on their bottom. At night I would use Renew lotion to cover their bottom all night. Good luck!!

Something my aunt in the daycare told me to use once is Lotrimin. I believe that's what its called its the atheletes foot remedy. Hope this helps. If it doesn't try a bath with epson salt in the water. Than grease her bottom well with vaseline over night. This way no wetness will irritate her. Blessings,
I hope one of these will help.

It almost sounds like an allergy! Is she allergic to the diapers? Are you using a scented baby wipe? I know it's a lot of work, but try using a REALLY wet wash cloth. Is she teething? Sometimes teething rashes go on for AGES!

Also, maybe now is as good a time as any to try to potty train her. I had my 2 y/o granddaughter trained in a week. I know it's a little young, but girls are sooo easy! Get her some frilly panties so she'll not want to soil them. Anything's worth a try!

Good luck and God bless, honey
