Fill a large plastic tub with sand (home depot sells bags of sand) try to find one with a lid that closes well. Add some beach toys like shovels, pails etc. Lakeshore and childcraft sell lots of age appropriate things for kids. I agree about the crayola brand items. I bought my grandson the markers which are round so he can easily use them.

I have made cookies, simple jam tarts and cakes with my children and grandchildren.

They also like scrapbooking. We go for walks and collect items we can make collages with. Simple treasure hunts are also a hit.

They love to dance and it's good exercise for the grandmother. The Crayola water filled products are excellent and leave no marks if they color off the page. Acting out what we read is fun as well.
