One thing to note about velcro, some people have good luck with it, but all of my covers that were velcro got really ratty looking within just a few washings. Also, if you are thinking of buying fuzzi bunz pocket diapers, be careful. The last eight or nine I got were made in china (which is where they are making all fuzzi bunz now as well as I can tell) and they all shrank two inches in the first wash...so don't buy a whole bunch of those till you test and see if they shrink. I'm hoping they fixed the problem, but it was still an issue a few months ago. Just hoping to keep other mom's from having this problem. :)

I love my gDiapers! It's great because you can do either cloth or a flushable insert, depending on where you are. I love them!

I am using the Flip brand diapers and they are working very well for me. They are also the least expensive option I have found 2 liners and 6 cloth inserts are 49 dollars

I loved my Bum Genius diapers for the first year. Really a good simple system that worked for my family. However after a year the velcro became an issue (rubbing agaist a very active little legs, coming undone, wearing in the wash) and there is the issue of smell and stripping with micro fiber
Now I want to buy kits to make fitted bamboo diapers for wazoodle that need covers. But, I am sure those also have issues...
There seems to be no magic cloth diaper, just depends on your family and what works for you.

the best diaper depends on the parents and baby and each child is built differently

Danielle - to echo Carla's point, it is all about preference - as well as budget and what works for you. I would first start with understanding what type of diaper you think you might be interested in before you jump straight to brand because certain brands are good for certain things. Here's a quick video to help you decide on the type of diaper that might work best for you. Below is a link to top rated brands by style, cost and material.

One word of caution is that if you haven't had your baby yet, I would not recommend buying a load of diapers. Purchase a few and work them into your routine of disposable diapers until you find what that you really like - and then make your purchase.
