I have recently started watching that show Extreme Couponing. When the people go shopping, they use more than one of the same coupon for an item to get a big discount. Whenever I clip coupons they always say "One coupon per item" so I dont understand how these women are using multiple of the same coupon. Is it different in some states? I live in NY

many times it can differ store to store (you can ask the stores for a copy of their coupon policy so you know what you can use and where). some stores allow coupon stacking - you can use more then one coupon on an item as long as the coupon is different (ie, if you had a coupon for pampers and it was for $2 as well as another one for $5 you would be able to use them both on one pack.) the stores that allow stacking take the "one coupon per item" to mean that you can use more then one coupon on that item as long as they aren't the same coupon (different amounts/barcodes). some stores will not allow you to stack two manufacture coupons, but you can stack a manufacture coupon with a store coupon and others don't allow stacking at all. it can get very confusing until you figure each store out. it's very helpful to keep the coupon policy on you when you're checking out incase the cashier tries to turn down the coupon - it's easier to show them a copy of the policy from head office then to argue with them with no proof.
