Has any one have a child diagnosed at birth with CF through blood testing and and then had the sweat test done and find out that their just carriers?

Yes here we go again! The a mount of times I hear about false positives. The only positive way of confirming CF is to get a DNA test to find out the faulty genes the child is carrying. If you are at odds with the DR ask for the gene test. I have heard of people walking around with CF all there lives being treated for bronchitis pnuenomia and many other bronchial problems due to having a sweat test and getting a false positive.A woman 55 years old near me has just formally been diagnosed with CF after DNA testing . Now she is on all the meds she should have been on since birth and well for the first time in her life . She has one very popular gene and one very rare gene.Dont go by sweat tests they are inconclusive now days . It has been discovered that there are over 1500 mutations associated with CF so it is more complicated than thought.Best of luck if you are in Australia the gene test is free through medical research institutes.
