Birthday Parties

Amy - posted on 12/24/2008 ( 2 moms have responded )

My little Owen will turn one year the day after Christmas. We decided to wait and do a half-birthday party for him in June so he isn't an after thought in everybody's Christmas burn-out. Now I am meeting opposition from family who marked his presents Christmas/birthday ( how rude!) Any suggestions on this one guys?

i understand your frustration, Amy! my son Ike's birthday is the same day, and we have several folks who thought it was totally ok to combine Christmas and birthday presents. i feel bad for my little guy! we're just doing our best to make it as separate and important of an event as we can. that's all you can do, really. i think you're doing the right thing. we're having our little guy's party a week later, just to get some separation from Christmas. but we've definitely considered the half-birthday thing, too. let us know how it goes!

My daughter just turned 1 the day after Christmas also! I had her birthday party on the 27th. I was affraid that would happen to her also. But surprisingly it did not. I would just make sure to keep things seperate. Let everyone know when you are having his birthday party and make it known. That is what I did with her. I told everyone I was not going to let her get cheated.
