my daughter had 7 ear infections the first year of her life, so the Drs put tubes in. I thought the tubes were supposed to help keep the number of infections down but it seems, to me, like they have done nothing. Since the tubes shes had 3 in about 5 months. Should I be concerned?

I was very prone to ear infections as a child, and my son has been also. He started getting ear infections back to back and fluid on his ear last year, so the doctor put him on Singulair 4mg Chewable tablet. He takes one daily and has been for at least half a year now and has not had one ear infection since! It's really easy for him to chew and swallow, but it's pretty expensive, there is no generic for it yet. Our copay for it I think is $30.

i had the same problem as a kid and now my daughter does too.. and this may sound weird but you should try bringing her to the chiropractor.. my mom tried everything with me and that finally stopped me from getting them so often.. at most id get 1 a year.. im planning to bring my daughter in soon.

hi melissa,
my little girl also suffers from ear infections and had the tubes put in, they'r called grommits here? if they are the same thing they are to let fluid drain from the inner ear? she had a really bad infection in each ear shortly after having them in, with a perforation in each eardrum, i didn't find they stopped infections at all, but i think they are more for helping them 2 hear better as fluid build up would obviously effect hearing.
i dont kno if ur daughter lies down drinking her bottle or cup? if so this can lead to ear infections. my public health nurse advised me of this, it happens because of something 2 do with fluid building in the eustacian tube. since i stopped her lying down drinking she hasnt had an ear infection (yet - touch wood!)
hope it might help ur little girl too...ear infections are so painful, i suffered from them as a child my self and all throughout my pregnancies.
