They are curious. Give your toddler more things to explore. They want to be like adults. They are practicing. They like real things to build and take apart. It's all good.

My 16 month old is my lil scavenger she loves getting into every trash can in the house no matter how high we set them, she grabs a stool and manages to get into them. I love the fact that she throws her dirty diapers away and trash she knows goes in the bin , and i also love the fact that she puts her dirty clothes in the hamper. Although at times she takes everything out and she wants to drink everything she sees no matter what it is.

Not sure, but both of mine do., It seems to be one more than the other, I think its just something new is all! Mine have even figured out that if the step on the bottom thing, the lid will pop up!!!

I laughed when I saw your post...I have the same problem as well. My son is constantly taking things out of the garbage!! We too have to keep the garbage cans up high or keep the doors closed. I also chuckled to see that my son is not the only one fasinated with playing in the toilet water!! It use to work to keep the lid down but now he has figured that out as well. If anyone has any ideas how to handle the playing in the toilet water please let me know!! Good luck to everyone!!

I understand your pain!!! My little one loves to dig in the trash... I have stopped putting juice or milk bottles in there, instead I just hand them to him! I tried putting the lid on the can but he is too smart for his own good and has figured out how to take the lid off. Last night I actually caught him trying to throw something away, it would have been a nice change of pace, however it was cell phone! If anyone finds out how to stop this, please let me know!!! Good luck.

We call my daughter our little trash digger, she will go dig out everything out of the garbage, and she is now putting stuff in there,  I think we hae lost a few sippy cups that way and who knows what else,  I'm glad my daughter is not the only one!!

Yeah I thought it might be my fault cause I've been getting him to put pampers and other stuff in the trash for awhile now so I guess he just thinks everything goes in now!!!

My husband calls her a lil' scavenger lol I just started getting her to put actually trash in the trash can but every now and then cups, bowls, socks and shits end up in there...I'm constantly working...

I can't answer that but I have a different problem! My lil one likes to put stuff IN the trash! When I can't find my box of wipes I go look in the trash and THERE IT IS!!! I have tried to tell him that the wipes aren't trash but I guess he can't comprehend it yet! I am still missing something that I'm sure the trash people have hauled away cause I have looked everywhere and still can't find it! He will sometimes get stuff out of the trash but mostly I have to watch that he don't put stuff in that doesn't belong in it!

Lol! I can't answer your question either but I can symithize with you! We got a trash can with a lid but now he just goes through the recycle back and drags every thing out! We also have to keep all the restroom doors shut or he goes in and plays in the toliet water! So GROSS! Good luck!

I laughed, too!!  I have to keep mine on the kitchen counter and every room in the house shut so he won't find the cans in there.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this post! My son does this and it's so annoying! He will find a trashcan in the pitch dark! Good luck keeping the trash on lockdown!
