Afraid of Potty Chair after Using It?

Has anyone had any problems with the child being scared of the potty chair after months of being comfortable sitting on it and even using it? We just really started into potty training my almost 23 month old daughter and two days ago after going potty quite a few times, she simply started screaming when I tried to get her to use it!!! Nothing happened to make her scared of it that I know of, so I'm not sure what on earth is going on!!!!
Any tips would be helpful!!! Oh, and has anyone had any luck with the training pants instead of pullups, b/c she just uses them like diapers!!!

Mine tried screeming like that, but it was because going potty was not high on her priority list. Here's what I did. I was 100% sure she understood the principals of using the potty, it was just about control for her... so I took her kicking and screeming to the potty, sat her down and started telling her a story, she quickly stopped screeming, listened to the story and also quickly pottied. She only screemed the first few times, but continued asking for the story:-). I have also resorted to bribes I give her a jelly bean for using the potty as incentive to stop what she is doing and go. (we started out with stickers, but I had to up the anti).

About the pull-ups question, mine had the same problem using them, but she also had that problem when wearing underwear too. We went nacked at home for a few weeks and now she can wear underwear (or a pull-up) with her clothes and still save it for the potty. I had heard to leave nacked at home for 3 months, but it seems to have only took a few weeks for us, but as I said before,I was 100% sure she knew the process before we started...

No problems yet! We gave the fisher price pottys to our kids for their first birthday and set it in the bathroom. If they wanted to use it great! By 18 months they both told us they had to pee. With our son we used gerber undies at home, and white cloud pull ups out. For the most part he was in elmo undies by 2! With our daughter we are using cloth pull ups by fashionably green baby. She is just too tiny for anything else!!!! After the first few times we voted to turn the music off on the just distracts the kids. WIth Lucas we rewarded with mini m&m's and later star stickers he got to place on a plain piece of paper. He was excited to count them at the end of the day. Kylie.......she is just excited to do what everyone else does. She does real well some days and others not.

my daughter likes to sit on her potty like a chair, even takes a book with her. but she has no interest in going on it to poop or pee. she seems scared, having a poop that way. we have tried her on the actual toilet too, and seems terrified. she is 23 months old, and we started trying to potty train her at 20 months. because she wasnt cooperative, weve given it a break. better to have them be ready and feel safe then push it on them.

I started with just having Gia sit with clothes on and then w/o clothes and then after pullups failed I went to training pants, and then she decides she is scared of the potty after using it so we are on hold until that ends, so I would just keep trying. You know what they say, EVERYONE gets potty trained one day!!! So have faith!!! lol That's what I'm doing. In my experience so far the training pants by gerber are the way to go, it's enough padding so it catches most of the pee and still lets her know that she went potty.

I have been potty training my little on on and off and she is not frightend by the potty. I have learned that if they are afraid of the potty it's best to wait it out until this time passes. I've also been told by numerous friends tha thave potty trained that pullups don't work your best bet is just to make them wear regular undies so they feel they wet themselves and/or let them run naked.

We are not totally into the potty training thing, but we have started to slowly introduce the potty. We bought one of the Fisher Price princess pottys and my daughter LOVES it. She gets so excited about using the potty because when she pees it plays music.
Either way, I've been told that they will let you know when they are ready. Maybe your child is trying to tell you that she needs a little more time.

It happened exactly to us the same way. He has been pottying since 18 months, but last week we put him on and he just screamed for 30 minutes. Now we cant even get him near it. = /
