My baby is 6 weeks old and on a schedule. She has her bath at 6:30 and then 3oz of cereal and a 3 oz bottle of milk. She will be asleep and in bed by 8, 9 the latest. She then usually gets up around 1:30-2 am. Eats another 3 oz of cereal and 3 oz of milk. She won't get up again until 6-8am. She then takes her naps during the day around 10:30 and 4 or 5. I know they say not to give them cereal but she acts as though she is starving all of the time. The cereal really seems to fill her up.

My baby still seems to sleep on and off for 24 hours.  She just wakes to feed, has a little smile, then goes back to sleep.  She is almost 8 weeks. I am surprised to hear of so many babies being awake all day and sleeping all night.

My baby is the same way...he is 8 weeks as well!  I am also surprised by so many sleeping all night and awake so much during the day.  I am breastfeeding...I am sure that makes a difference.

My baby is sleeping through the night. She does have quite a bit of awake time. She is going through a growth spurt because yesterday and today she slept pretty much all day with exception of feeding time. Then she'd stay awake for about 30 minutes. She is 9 weeks old.

My little girl is almost 8 weeks old now. She only tends to stay awake for an hour or two during the day( including feedings). The rest of the time she is asleep. She usually naps for 2-4 hours at a time. For the most part she sleeps through the night ( 1am-8am). If not she only wakes up once a night to eat and then she is right back to sleep. =)

I completely agree! How do you super moms do it? I have twins, who sleep on different schedules. The only consistant schedule they do have is the feeding schedule at night which is still every three hours. Their longest sleep is usually somewhere between 12 and 6 pm, for about 3.5 hours, but never at the same time. I can't imagine how you all can get your little ones to sleep for so long at night, I'm baffled and horribly jealous! LOL

My baby boy is 8 weeks.  He eats every 3 hours during the day, stays awake about 45 minutes after eats, then sleeps until the next feeding.  He sleeps 6 hours during the night.  I must say, there are times when he doesn't nap well.

My little guy will only sleep 2 to 3 hours at a time even at night, during the day he gets up and eats and we play a little to stimulate him and he will be awake for an hour or two at a time but at night I try to only feed and change him when he wakes in hopes that he will go straight back to sleep and stay asleep longer, but he still sometimes takes an hour to get back to sleep at night and wont sleep much longer than 3 hours at best. I wish I had a sleep- through- the- nighter! I am so tired!

I am with you, that's exactly my baby's sleeping pattern. And I do need that night sleep so bad as i already went back to work.

Are there any advices from the lucky mommies who can sleep through the night??

My baby boy is 8 weeks today! He eats every 2.5-3 hours, has about 30-45minutes of awake time then naps. It's a constant routine like this. Except at night he is stretching to 4 hours between feedings, but I just feed and change him and back to sleep. Sometimes it takes him up to an hour to fall back asleep though. Mainly because he keeps losing his paci. He is a major sucker so he wants that thing all the time! We are breastfeeding, if this helps. I am exhuasted as well too. I have a 2 year old as well so I do not get to sleep during the day when he naps, bummer!

Hazel I hear you because my daughter is the same way, she is getting a little better and i mean little.  But when she is awake she is only happy for maybe 20 min then it's the soother, then she falls asleep again.

Hazel...exactly what I was thinking! My baby does sleep at least 4-5 hours ina stretch at night from like 12-4 or 5 but she does not sleep "thru the night" and is awake just as much as she is asleep during the day. She is awake for about 1.5 hours after eating then takes a 1.5 hour nap....then she eats again and around we go

Hazel, This is how my baby sleeps too! She is awake for longer intervals during the day and sleeps through most of the night, but she does not stay awake for long, long periods of time.

Hi Lucy. My little one is 7 weeks old and normally he will have a feed, about half an hour of awake time and I then put him down for a sleep. He will normally then sleep until his next feed which is about 2-3 hours. I do however have some times where I can't get him to sleep at all or he wakes early. If he does this I try and settle him as much as I can as I only feed him a min of 3 hourly. I had some unsettled time early on and I tried him sleeping on his tummy and he loves it. One of my main rules is to never wake him when he is sleeping.

We are trying a new technique at the moment and it's meant to work really well.
See http://www.silentnights.org/

It's got to do with leaving your baby to cry to teach them good sleep skills, but it sounds lke you've got no problem there!

My baby sleeps in the night from about 10:30pm until 6:30 am if we are lucky. I try to give him a late morning nap and he usually will only sleep for a short interval, maybe an hour then we try a late afternoon nap aroung 3 or 4pm. Sometimes he won't nap at all and then he is so cranky in the evening. Does anybody force a nap and let him cry? I hate to hear him cry but sometimes he seems so exhausted I have to.

All and all it seems to get better everyday.
