Just curious to see who's babies are using sippy cups. What are you serving in your sippy cup? My daughter will only drink juice from her sippy cup. If I try to give her formula in it she gets upset and throws the cup. She is 9 months old now. Also, any suggestions on how to help her learn to tilt the cup up? She doesn't get that and sucks a lot of air... Thanks for your suggestions!

My daughter drinks juice, and milk (breast, or formula) from hers. She has been drinking out of it for about 2 months now. She has just recently been able to hold it up to her mouth, and tilt it correctly by herself. I think it just comes with time, that they figure it out. Otherwise, I would hold it, or help her hold it. We like the "munchkin" brand--- had tried a few and landed on those.

idk....my daughter started drinking out of a sippy cup at 6 months and by 7 she just tilted her head back by herself. I think it helped also that my friend's daughter is a little older and she watched her all the time.

I've been giving my daughter a sippy cup with the soft spout and no handles since she was 4 1/2 months. She only gets water in it. She started to figure out the tipping after a few weeks. I found that with water it didn't matter if she spilled, it's just water. When she was about 6 1/2 months she started having a regular cup with water during dinner. We had to help her a bit but she can do it by herself now. She still spills but again, only water.

I've been giving Isaiah juice in a sippy cup with his dinner. I usually put apple juice in it, diluted with a little water so it's not as sweet. He had trouble with the tilting part too until he learned to hold his own bottles. I started giving him his bottles in his old car seat (I just sat him in it when it was time to take a bottle) and it works like a seat without sitting up all the way. Once he learned to tilt his bottles, the sippy cups worked too. I think they just need lots of practice! Oh and he uses the sippy cups with handles and a soft top. He doesn't know what to do with a cup without handles and a hard top yet. You may want to experiment with different cups.

Ya, my daughter also seems to not care what is in the cup...but needs me to hold it up. Two of my friends are using the type of sippy cup with a straw so it doesn't have to be tipped up. I didn't think the babies could figure out the sucking from a straw, but apparently there's did. I haven't tried it yet but am going to get one soon b/c I want to get her off bottles by her 1 yr b-day.

Well, you are lucky that she likes to drink from the sippy cup at all. My boy refuse to take it. I tried it with both formula and juice :(
