hi everyone, just a quick update, last week i made sure i ate to within all my points allowance on weight watchers (as obviously don't want it to affect my milk by eating less than advised) so expected to lose 2lbs which is the best amount to lose in a week, well anyway my first week with weight watchers and i lost 5lbs ! get on line ladies, it's the way forward ! ha ha

good luck, we should start a new community ha ha

I did weight watchers and I am smaller now in 4 months then when I conceived! They have a program for breastfeeding mothers. It really helped me and I wouldn't be scared to exercise! Good luck hun :)

I have been drinking mummy magic weight loss tea to reduce my belly pouch and baby weight after pregnancy which worked fine and I got back my pre-baby body within two months.

well if you are worried about making less milk there are herbal teas out there and brewers yeast that will up your supply if you want to eat less and exercising even walking with your baby doesn't have to be something big like benching 100lbs just doing something simple like walking or even some light yoga or something

My mother is doing Weight Watchers and has lost 60 lb so it has worked for her. Body for Life has worked for me and I swear by it. They have a cookbook called Eating for Life which gives me ideas for recipes and snacks throughout the day. THe exercises are easy and do not take hours in the gym.

when i say a guideline of what you should be eating to stay healthy, i mean portions of fruit and veg, liquid intake, healthy oils. lean meat, that sort of thing, not actual food to stick too, sorry if i confused anyone there !

I totally agree with you Holly, weight watchers is good because you decide what your going to have, it only gives you a guide line of what you should be eating everyday to stay healthy and also a points systems, i like it because it makes me do exactly what i wasn't doing before, which is making me think about what i'm eating before i put it in my mouth, and i have eaten healthier than i was eating before hands down, also you can earns point by doing exercise.

Weight watchers is a lifestyle style change! There is not calorie counting or diet, it's simply helping you make better choices about what you put in your body at the same time giving you guidelines for portion control to make you aware of what you are eating and why!

Thanks for the advice but I wouldn't do weight watchers though, I don't do calorie counting or diets as such and I have always believed that it has to be a change of life style - we all know what is good food and bad food and know when enough is enough... I'd rather put money into the gym... but hey if its working for you, everyone is different

Thank you so much ladies for all your support and help... because I was a real gym bunny before having baby it made me feel worse that I couldn't go in as I feel as though when I leave who ever is looking after him wouldn't know what to do it he cried! however I have been doing some running, some badminton and am signing back up to the gym - I have been drinking more water than ever and eating better and guess what 2kg down already! only 7 to go and I'm back in those skinny jeans! maybe we should all post our progress with pics??

I don't agree with the exercising causing toxins. I exercised during and after the pregnancy without complications to myself or the baby. Start with walks and work your way up to what you can tolerate. Exercise is the best stress reliever.

I was so sick during my pregnancy that I actually lost weight. I find that now I can keep my food down I am ballooning because I am too tired to cook and exercise as I did before I fell pregnant. Might give the online weightwatchers a try...

Im a little depressed about my weight too. When I was pregnant I lost a total of about 20 pounds. The docs think that it was because my job was so physical. Which was fine by me as I have always been overweight. So after I had my son I had to go buy new pants because all of mine no longer fit me *yay* but now after being off for these last few months and not being as physically active I have gained it all back :(

I can't believe so many other women are in the same boat as me! I have been working out 3-4 days a week, and eating better and the weight is just not coming off! I'm eating lowfat proteins, whole wheat carbs, fruit, veggies and nothing. It's very frustrating. Someone posted about how your body holds onto fat stores when you are breastfeeding, and I think it's true! I still have like 15 pounds to go to get to what I was when I conceived my lovely Elijah. Seems like weight watchers might be the way to go.....glad to know I'm not alone! Good luck everyone!

I'm right there with ya! I just keep thinking about this pair of really awesome jeans I bought right before I got pregnant that, no lie, made my rear look absolutely fabulous. Still can't get back into them, but I'm slowly but surely getting there. But, hey, drawstring pants are more comfortable anyway, right?

Maybe I'll join the rest of you at WW soon!

Also, check out this site: http://theshapeofamother.com/

See?!!! We're all going through the same thing!

i have stretch marks galore too (no more bikinis - ha! who am I kidding I havn't worn bikinis in forever!). I lose the weight by staying strickly off anything dairy because my son was reacting to it. it fell off. now that he is ok with it and i am back to eating dairy i have stoped, perhaps put on weight :( i have just started walking again. hoping that will help.

Just read another post and saw that WW have program for b/feeding mums - that sounds like the go!

I feel the EXACT same way you do as I am going through the same thing!!! My daughter will turn 4 months old on the 28th of this month. I lost all my pregnancy weight by the time she was 2 months old, BUT I gained 10 lbs. since. I too thought breastfeeding would make it so I wouldn't gain more weight. I don't want to be selfish and diet now because my milk supply will dip and she'll end up going on formula, BUT I feel depressed about my weight and worry if I keep on this route I'll gain more and never be able to lose it.

I think I'm going to try and eat just 3 good meals a day and drink lots of water. This is harder for me than you would think because I also have a 17 month old toddler. I don't have much time to make meals for myself, so I usually find myself snacking on Teddy Grahams, or toast or whatever is quick and easy.

I think the key to the diet is to gradually reduce the amount of calories you are intaking. If you do it abruptly, your milk will dry up.

I am having the same problem, and part of that is because I gained too much weight while pregnant. I have only started losing weight this past month or so. Instead of going on a diet program, I have been careful about what I've been eating. I've limited meat in my diet to one day a week, which means I eat more veggies (better for breastfeeding baby, getting more vitamins). I will generally eat an egg a day to still get protein. We also try to only eat whole grain bread.

I have a great exercise video that you can get here:

http://www.progressiveparent.com/Pregnan...

The exercises are divided into three different levels, and they are only about 20 minutes long. My daughter loves working out with me. I was able to loose about 4 pounds in a month.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Weight loss will take time. It's more important to change the way we think about food. I like to think that I am making healthier eating choices now in order to teach my daughter a proper relationship to food down the road. For us this has included buying local produce and farm-raised meat and eggs. These foods are more expensive than their grocery store counterparts, but by only visiting the farmer's market we avoid the high-fat processed foods that are bad.

I CONCUR... Weight Watchers!!! I'm doing it. I lost 10lbs right away, after I hit a plateau at 3mo pp. I have sort of hit another plateau, but I've also been slacking a little lately on logging. I've been eating way better than before, but not logging as well. I'm sure if I had time to exercise, I might get out of this plateau I'm currently on.

I have not lost a lot of weight since the birth of my son, I found it very depressing. However, I spoke with a bunch of my friends who said the same thing that the losing weight with breastfeeding is a bit of a myth because your body is trying to hold onto extra fat in case you and the baby need the extra calories. Also, the exercise causing toxins is wrong. As long as you are exercising moderately it is good for you and the baby. Just don't over do it!
I've started exercising consistently 3 days a week and am finally getting some weight loss. I do circuit training, get my heart rate up to a moderately level (not max, then you could cause your body to produce lactic acid) and then adding some weights. Do you guys have strollerfit classes where you are? I love it because I can take my baby and he loves the class too.

[deleted account]

I agree with you Natalie too. I am struggling with losing those last 10 pounds but everyone around me keeps saying it took you 9 months to put all that weight on and it will take you time to get if off too....its just hard though! You just want it to go away! Keep up the positive attitude and I bet you will look great soon!
