HI everyone,
I am worried about my 14 month old. She stared taking a few steps here and there when she was 11 months old, but she still is not walking. She takes up to 10 steps at a time, but nothing more. The doctors told me I should not worry about her not walking until she is 15 months, but that is in a little over two weeks away. I do not foresee her making any big improvements in that short of a time... I am at a loss. Do you have any advice as to what I can do to help encourage her to walk more?

I wouldn't worry too much either, as Nicole said she is attempting to walk. One of the children I used to care for was the same, she took her first steps at 9 months and by 16 months wasn't doing more than 5 or 6 steps then all of a sudden she stood up and set off across the garden to me all by herself.
To encourage her just hold her hands and lead her around the room, or give her a toy to push along. My little girl used to do best when I was in a shop I would put her down and she'd toddle around holding my hands and I gradually just let go with one hand then the other and she was off

I wouldn't panic.. Just try to give her momentum to walk. Do you have any push toys that she can use? Those are what we introduce children to at my childcare program to help them feel comfortable becoming mobile. Also, if she will walk holding your hand or along things that is good! She probably doesn't feel as comfortable walking as she does crawling, so when she is comfortable she will let go and run around! Good Luck!

She's attempting to walk, so that's a good sign. My son at 13.5 months old just decided one day he was going to up and walk, and that's what he did. There were no days of a few steps here and there, he just got up and walked one night. Of course he had the balance of a drunk, but he was walking! And in a week he was a pro. Your daughter may not be ready to walk yet. I would try to let my son walk holding my hands every chance we got, whenever we went out somewhere I would make him walk. I think that helped his balance.
