feels like a pulled muscle- but only at night

At night, i have a hard time sleeping. Our son shares a room with us, and I'm up and down with him, and to add on to that, I'm normally a belly sleeper. And as you all know, we're losing comfortable sleeping positions. When i sleep on my side my shoulders/arms/and sometimes my hands even go numb and i have pain in my hips. So when i roll over or adjust, i feel like I have pulled a muscle in my lower abdomen. It worries me but i feel fine in the morning and the baby doesn't seem to be affected. Is anyone else having issues like this?

Leah, I injured my sciatic nerve on my left side with my son, and unfortunately it hasn't healed, and when it pulls it feels like my lower back/butt that may be the pain you have. might want to ask about it at your next appointment. Thanks for your input :)

All totally normal...I didn't waste money on a special pillow though. Just used a regular one tucked under the belly and between my legs. I also use one to brace my back or I will roll onto it and wake up very sore. When I get up to pee (as I do 3 or 4 times a night these days) I switch to the other side so I don't get the strain in my sciatic nerves. I tried to sleep really propped up but that just caused lots of the bum pain. As long as my heartburn is under control I can finally sleep horizontal. With my first pregnancy I didn't have any aches or pains. Second time around your body is stretched sooner because "it knows what to do!" If you are worried talk to your doc...here in Ontario we can call telehealth (http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/pr...) where there are nurses available 24/7 to answer immediate questions. Nothing is too "silly" to call them about.

i am having the exact same problem. i told my doctor about it and she said its normally. and it occuars more after your first child. i can't sleep at all at night. i can only sleep on my tummy and not being able to do so causes lack of sleep!

I am totally having this issue, though not on the abdomen part (though I'm sure it's normal). My pain is always in my right butt cheek (tmi I know, sorry) but dang it hurts so bad! I've always slept on my right side and this has only been happening for like the past week or so. It's crazy @_@
