Back pain (middle back)

Katherine - posted on 12/03/2010 ( 5 moms have responded )

I can't take it anymore, it's my first child and seriously, nobody seems to know what is going on with my back... I tried to sit properly, take warm bath, put hot compress, they prescrib me tylenol 3, told me to rest (actually on bed rest since 2 month)... And NOTHING work... Does anybody go thru the same thing and actually know what it is from?

Interestingly enough, I talked to my NP today about a similar issue. She says that it's ligament pain (we have them in our backs, too) and she recommends ice pack/compress, that heat can only make it worse. I'm going to try once I get home. Hope that helps!

I'm pregnant with my third and lately by the end of the day, I am so sore I through my back and pelvis it hurts to lay in bed, it hurts to sit for too long, it hurts to lay in bed for too long and it hurts to walk around too much. Your back is going to be sore because of the extra strain on your muscles in holding up your pregnant belly. Make sure you're stretching your muscles. If you are willing, a chiropractor can give you some relief and help you with stretching exercises that can also help.

One thing that I really like to do is to get down on my hands and knees and just let my belly hang and take all that pressure off my back, then just arch and roll your back (think yoga poses!).

I feel for you! I had the same with my second pregnancy. I had to bug my gp over months to take it seriously. In the end I was given a brace to wear and the last few weeks I had crutches...... Strangely though, Ive had no problems with my back this time

That's exactly what it is, ligament pain. Our whole midsection loosens up in preparation for childbirth. I'm dealing with it big time today, I'm 36 weeks. My back hurts, my hips hurt, and for the first time this pregnancy my thighs hurt as well. This is my second child and I don't even remember having this much pain the first time around with my 22 month old.
