Is your LO on a day to day routine and if so what is it? What kind of different things do you do all day?

@Jennifer - I clip K's paci to her at night and she finds it herself - this has saved me a lot of time and sleep!!! When I nursed her, I would get up several times a night....but now that she doesn't eat at night and is on formula and solids, she really just wants the paci! She would drop it in the floor, etc because I was afraid to slip it to her at night, but I started clipping it in a way that would make it impossible for it to get tangled around her and she is old enough to cry if there's a problem - I have the monitor up really high...and she has had no issues with it. She will find the paci and not even wake me up! That is her comfort - EVEN IF I AM HOLDING HER! She loves that thing....but that's fine with me...there are worse things!

I used to keep her on a schedule, but now that she is older, she kind of sticks to the schedule on her own...I am very flexible, but still maintain similar feeding times on a daily basis...
wake up around 6:30 am...come down and feed her an 8 oz bottle of formula and share a banana with her and then play in the floor (no TV for baby!) with legos, stacking toys, activity table, etc...while I see the 2 older kids off to school. I usually eat breakfast int he floor while she plays.
Then she goes down for a nap around 8:30am and wakes up when she is ready...usually around 9:30. i work while she is sleeping...then I get her ready, dressed, etc..and give her another 8 oz bottle at 10 am. Sometimes I will give her a little baby food - she is usually more into what I am eating though...
Usually I will have an activity planned for the day - go to the library for a mommy group, have a play date at the mall play park, go hiking with a friend and her baby with the Baby Bjorn, have lunch with my dad, etc....then she will have another 8 oz bottle at 1 pm, no matter where we are. She usually takes a little 30 minute nap somewhere around 11:30 or 12...depending on where we are or if we are in the car, etc....
Then I have to be home by 3 for her older brother to come home, so she goes down for another nap around 2:45-3 pm and sleeps for 1-2 hours...depending on how long the middle nap is.
She gets another 8 z bottle at 4 and then she plays or eats a snack (organic O's or dried mango) while I cook dinner...sometimes she will hang out in the Jenny Jump Up or Jumperoo or Activity Center...but lately she has been crawling around more and having fun on the ground...and sometimes older sister will play and keep her entertained. Depending on what night it is we sometimes have church, extracurricular activities for the older kids to go to, etc...but she will eat another 8 oz bottle at 7pm and go to bed shortly afterward.
She is a pretty good sleeper, but around 4 or 5 am she will wake up and I will go lay int he guest bed with her and she will go back to sleep till we wake up. (I am not going to wake up at 5am for the day!)
She doesn't eat at night though...and no juice for her. I cut most of the sugar out - the only sugar she has is the natural sugar in fruit....i guess I am strict! But we do have a hygiene routine. She will have a bath at night before bedtime...usually around 5:30 while dinner is in the oven...and then pj's and q-tips and blow her nose....and she loves bath time! That is fun time for her...I clip her nails when she is taking a nap - sometimes she naps in the crib and sometimes she naps next to me on the couch while I am working on the computer...that is the easiest time to do it...or in the car seat. I have just started brushing her teeth after breakfast too...she has two bottom teeth. She is cutting the top ones now and it is no fun!! I give her a bit of orajel or tylenol and it helps...

No problem! Something usually throws us off too lol I've seen some moms make themselves nuts over trying to keep a strict routine with their kids. I put formula, juice, and just plain water in her sippy cups. After trying several brands I figured out she will only use the ones by Nuby. When I first started giving them to her at 6 months old I would only put juice in it. It took her about a month for her to get the hang of using it without getting the juice all over herself lol once I started giving her finger foods I would give her a sippy with formula in it for lunch. I never had a problem with her not liking it. When she was around 8 months old I started putting her morning formula in it. That one took a week or so before she would drink it all but whenever she threw it on the floor I would just pick it up and hand it back to her. At night she would sit on my lap and drink her bottle but when I noticed she would start getting restless and would try to crawl off my lap I tried giving her night time formula in a sippy too. It took a week or so before she realized she didn't have to sit on my lap anymore (she wouldn't hold a bottle on her own but she'll hold a sippy lol) she loved it. She got her 1st 2 teeth when she was 6 months old so I wanted to get her off bottles soon because everything I had read said they were bad for baby's teeth. Now she's almost 10 months and won't drink from a bottle at all...

When Madison has a tooth coming through I put baby tyneol in her sippy with her formula at night. It usually helps her sleep through the night...

My daughter is on a sort of routine... meaning she has one but I'm not one of those who stick to it like glue. I go with the flow... sometimes she follows her routine to the letter and other times she doesn't follow it at all.

Between 7-8 am wake up- 7 oz sippy- watch cartoons in excersaucer/play with toys

An hour after her sippy she gets breakfast- usually cheerios and fruit

Between 9-10 am nap time- usually wakes up between 11-12:30

Then snack and I let her crawl around and play... sometimes we go outside and play or run errands

Then lunch at 1:30-2 pm- usually veggies and toast with 7 oz sippy

Then I let her play again until 3- then she gets a snack and another nap

She sleeps until 4:30-5

Then she gets a snack (usually a biter biscuit or baby cheetos)

Dinner at 6:30 (usually Gerber Ravoli Pick-Ups) then bath then 7 oz sippy in her excersaucer

Bedtime 7:15

i need a routine really bad... my 10mon old is waking up several times a night... i BF him when he wakes up so he probably is used to it now... I pretty much feed on demand... which could be every 30 minutes or a few hours depending on where we are at and how hard he cries for me... I need to start thinking about weaning him since I am BF until he is a year... (2 more months). I feel like it's going to be soo hard to do it though...

Thanks everyone for all the replies! There was a lot of helpful info in your posts!
@Kristi, clipping the paci at night is a good idea. i never even thought of doing that.
@Julianne, I'm realizing i have a routine too...lol. After reading everyones replies i see that our day is alot like other routines... :)

Our 10 month old is on a loose routine. She wakes up between 8:30am-9:30am and has her first bottle within 30 minutes of getting up. She has breakfast between 10-10:30am and has another bottle 11-12pm and naps after. Lunch is anywhere from 2-3pm and she will nap around 4-5pm for an hour or so with bedtime between 8-8:45pm and will sleep through the night. I didn't really realize this was a routine until recently and love it that we kind of have one! I can't imagine having a routine that more than what we have and being able to leave the house!

lucy... its sounds funny but i like that you wash her face and brush her hair! i've never thought of this before... obviously i alwaysmake sure she's clean... but i'm going to make washing her face in the bathroom and then brushing her (short...but growing!) hair a part of our routine so that she gets used to itfor when she's older!

[deleted account]

hey girls were not on any strict routine in this house either
my daughter wakes anytime between 7-8am she has a bottle of 7oz formula
she cruizes around and plays with her toys in her pj's until bout 10am then she has her breakfast usually porrage and sometimes some fruit and she has a bit of juice in her sippy
strait after breakfast she goes to her cot for a nap normally waking up between 12 -1pm! i get her dressed, wash her face and comb her hair
then time for dinner she has anything from tuna pasta to beef stew and a pudding aswell either fruit or a naughty treat :)
she plays until around 3pm ish then down for another nap she wakes anytime between 4-5pm
having trouble getting her to eat another meal at the minute as shes used to a bottle at this time so its either a fight with a meal or she has 7oz formula about 5-5:30pm
by this point she is normally exausted and wants to go to bed for the night she has a bath when i think she needs one normally every 2 days or so in which case shes in bed by around 7pm if its not a bath night then shes in bed by 6pm
depending on how much shes eaten during the day we sometimes give her a formula top up around 10pm if she wakes up when she hears us go to bed (which is most of the time) and when she has a tooth cutting she wakes at around 4:30am for a comfort feed
all this depends on appointments and days out aswell which can disrupt her routine as long as she gets her sleep shes happy lol x

Charlotte, You don't sound lazy..lol. just a tired mommy trying to get some rest!!! I know i would never be able to get Olivia in bed by 6:30. Does she sleep through the night all the way until 7:30 a.m.? that is wonderful if she does!! wow. Olivia goes to bed around 8-8:30 and wakes up a couple times a night now looking for her paci. AND she wants to get up SOOOO early now too (5am to 5:30)...don't know how to stop this!!! eventually she goes back to sleep. BUT i am a worn out mama. I need to get out more like you! We occasionally go for walks but I know we definately need to get out alot more. thanks for your input!! :)

hi! i'll give you our kind of routine... i'm like tabby... i tend to just go with the flow
7:30 am nurse her in bed and we have a play there (we take ages to actually get out of bed lol) then we walk the dog for a little bit, then she has breakfast of normally organic porridge oats and some fruit
then 9 am she goes down for a nap, which can last between 1 and a half hours to 2 and a half hours!! i nurse her to near enough sleep, but this isnt so much for the food rather than the comfort and i nap with her because i' m normally ready for a nap by then aswell... im coming across as quite lazy right?!
then we will have a play around and a crawl and take the dog out for a long walk, maybe go to the park to play on the swings if weather permitting, or we go out and see friends then. then i nurse her for her lunch and maybe she'll have something then aswell (but not often) and she has another nap... depending where we are for this it can be anythign from an hour to two hours. then we have a play and at about six we have dinner, a baby friendly version of whatever me and her dad are having, then dim the lights, have quiet play, look at books and get ready for bed with the aim of being asleep at 6 30! through out the day she snacks on breast milk, fruit or veggies that kinda thing. i try and get out the house quite a bit, show eloise the world and i let her crawl as much as poss!
i havent tried a sippy cup yet! we have with a smoothy but it didnt have a lid on so we held it but she drank from that well, going to try it with my milk in 2moro!

Olivia uses the Gerber sippy cups and i didn't give it to her until around 8 months. She finally figured it out after a month. :) I'm going to start trying to ween her off the bottle soon since they need to be off them by a year old. I'm sure it will be fun... She got her first 2 teeth at 5 and a half months(the 2 on bottom) and now she has 8 teeth. 4 on bottom and 4 on top. they just come back to back with her. I use baby orajel and tylenol if she gets really cranky. anyways, thanks for your help! :)

Thanks for the input Tabby!
I'm curious about the sippy cups. do you put the formula in them or juice. I give my daughter juice in her sippy but not formula. I tried that one day and she got really irritable! sooo, no luck with that. My daughter has all of a sudden started waking up at 5:30 am for the past 3 days and she will not go back to sleep. it's driving me crazy.... :( I think it is teething though. She only takes 2 one hour naps during the day and that's it. First one is at 10ish and the 2nd around 2. anyways, I have somewhat of a routine but it all kind of depends on when she wakes up in the morning. usually something throws us off.
