my baby is 3 months old now, and i want to start giving her a bath every night to get her started on a routine. i want to add the bath to the current routine, which is just lotioning her up at night before bed but after eating. yet my family is throwing a hissy fit about it.

Madison is 3 & 1/2 months old and here in the New Mexico desert, We give her 2 baths a week and make sure she is squeaky clean between baths. She hardly leaves home and we insist on only freshly washed and/or hand sanitized hands touching her. Do what YOU feel is right. ;-)

Well I guess because Sabine is an easy to bed kinda girl, we don't incorporate bathing into her routine. I guess I am the only one here who gives my daughter a bath about every 3 days. She doesn't like it or dislike, so that is not the reason why. But I guess I am just not sure what I would exactly be washing off? I mean I clean her butt very well at each changing and wash her face day and night and hands throughout the day... but not sure why I would do it everyday except for the bedtime routine idea - which I guess I will start when she becomes mobile.

i wish somebody had told me sooner that it was okay to bathe him every night! the docs at the hospital where he was born said every 3-4 days, but we just started the nightly bath routine a few weeks ago and there's been a HUGE difference in his sleep. don't let your family give you your opinion, and in this case it is an opinion. unless frequent bathing irritates your baby's skin (which should not happen if you're using mild enough soap), there's no reason to avoid it.

My LO is 15wks today and Ive been giving him a bath everynight since the first week of his life. When he was younger i would only use soap every 2-3 days depending on how messy he got. Now I just do it every other night. The everynight bath has tremendously helped with bedtime! We bathe, get lotioned, clothed, then eat a bottle and he's out for 6-10 hours straight and it only takes him 5-10 mins to fall asleep!

I'm another mom that gives a bath every night, unless we happen to get home more than an hour past her normal bathtime. She loves her baths and sleeps better/longer for almost 12 hours straight. I figure if she does everything that I do during the day, then why shouldn't she get a bath each day like I do?

I've been bathing my daughter everyday since her umbilical cord fell off. She looooves her bath. She's only cried once, the very first time and now 3 months later never ever cried. She's so calm in the tub so I know she must love it. Her bath is usually about 10 minutes. I don't wash her hair everyday. She doesn't have much..lol..

I give my 3 month old a bath every night. I say as long as you lotion them up afterwards, especially in the winter when the air is super dry, it's not going to hurt anything. The sooner you develop a steady routine, the better.

Hello!

Here in Europe Doctors recomend a daily bath as soon as you take your baby home from the hospital. I´ve been bathing my baby everynight ever since he was 4 days old and have never had a problem. He´s 3 months now and sleep 8 hours straight and has never gotten sick (knock on wood). Our routine is: bath, massage, feeding and then to bed.

Good luck!!

My baby is three months and I give her a bath every night around 6:30. She likes her baths and gets ver cranky if she doesn't get to play in the tub. She also sleeps way better after her bath. At first I was worried about giving her a bath every night, but then I tried it out, putting a bit of baby oil in the tub and I find that it really isn't that big of a deal.

Yes a bath does help them sleep better in my opinion. You should do what will work best for you and your baby. Everyone has an opinion when it comes to baby care and it comes down to what mom and dad agree is best.

They say that you shouldnt give a bath every night till the baby is old enough to actually get dirty.. My daughter is 3 months as well and I give her a good bath every other night but wipe her down and lotion on the days she doesnt get a bath. As long as you clean the dirty areas it isnt needed but I say do what you want and dont let the family tell you one way or another...
