my friends son's party is this weekend, and i am getting him some childrens french books. they are teaching him english and french, so I found these great books.
For my son, in sept. we will probably get him a walking toy, push ones, or one that you stand and play with. ...can't wait for his first b-day! its so special!

For my son's first birthday we are buying one of the wagon's with canopy and little seats and cup holders to pull him in. I saw a mom pulling her two little ones in it at the zoo and it was cute as can be.

Just wondering about the box thing, it sounds like a good idea. Are they cardboard boxes what you use? My baby would probably dive on them and squash them though, do you do anything to stop this?

I'm getting DaKotah a toddler bed because she climbs out of her crib. Thank goodness I have things around the crib that if she does climb out and fall it will be a soft landing. She started doing this when she was about 6 months old. I can't leave her alone for even a second in her room. And I have the crib all the way down and she still climbs out. But her father used to be the same way when he was a baby too. She's also getting everything Elmo.... Her party is going to be Elmo themed because the girl loves Elmo.... She has 3 Elmo toys that she drags around the house with her all day long.... She already has all the walking toys but she won't play with them.... She has all kinds of toys but won't play with them.... And she is scared to death of the ball pits.... My niece whom lives with us has one and DaKotah climbed in it once and started screaming but she will play with the little balls from it

I want to get my daughter a play kitchen. I know she might be a little young, but my husband and I are real foodies and hope Caroline likes to cook one day.

Jewel, being my last and my third, is eager to "catch up" to her brothers, as much as Mum would like her to take things easy. So we are making her birthday HUGE too, and getting her one of those smart trikes. She sees her brothers play on their bikes and scooters and is eager to join them. Her brothers are getting her a little bike that she can sit on and move around herself. We are going as far as giving her a birthday party, too, which I can't wait to organise

The box thing reminded me of the time I bought my daughter new car seat and I had the box in the living room. I sat her in the box think that she like it because what baby don't like boxes. She freaked out started screaming.

I like that painting ideal.

We are buying Ava a sandpit. She loves sand, she rolls in it, digs in it, eats it. Her daycare teachers said they have never seen anything like it before. As soon as they go outside she is straight into the sand !

Now I just need to choose which one I like. It must have a cover, preferably have corner seats and even better if it has a bottom so I can move it around !

I still vote boxes. It's original and I think my son will use it more than anything. He loves to hide in them and push them. I'm painting mine up and making them really awesome. Like a boat or a wagon. His actual party is going to be pricey since my activities are for older kids (he's the only 1 year old around) so the presents are going to be cheap but awesome!

honestly, we've bought him toys and other developmental things but his favorite things to play with are things that daddy and I use everyday - water bottles, large cooking utensils, tupperware, remote controls, etc. I don't think that we are going to spend a whole lot of money on any one particular thing. And we are going to suggest to our friends and family to get us gift certificates for pampers and such (like Kmart) because those are the most useful. We're learning that toys aren't as interesting to him. Maybe that will change in the next couple months, but I doubt it. If we spend on anything, it will probably be an inflatable pool for him to play in. That's about it.

i know its a little cheesy but i bought my little princess a beautiful tiara as her 1st bday present from me to her. she wont care about it much now but im hoping that if we take good care of it over the years she can wear it to her prom then someday her wedding and then maybe one day give it to her own daughter if she ever has one...theres not much in the way of traditions or family heirlooms in our family so i really wanted to get her something special and start a tradition of our own ...now i just have to wait until her birthday on sept18th to give it to her lol...in the mean time soon as shes old enough to appreciate it she will love playing dress up with it!!!

ANdrea we got a ball pit from a friend and my daughter loooooves it!!! So I highly recommend that, but get more balls cuz they usually only come with 30 and that is not enough!! I am like you I want to buy everything!! haha Its my first baby So we are going all out on her bday!! Oh and and Onestepahead.com has a combination ball pit and swing and slide! Its super cute! I considered getting taht if it would fit in my house for the winter!!

Also a play tunnel and tent. We have one at church and my baby girl really enjoys it!

I'm giving my son boxes. Seriously. Everyone always says that you shouldn't spend money on stuff like toys and that's okay with me. I've saved up all of his formula cans and I'm painting them different things. Kinda like ABC blocks. But then I'm making them in to banks or shaker cans later!

I want to buy everything for my daughter lol I can't wait till Sept 2nd my baby's 1st birthday. She's my last child and my last 1st birthday, so for that reason it going to be huge. I know for sure I'm going to get her one of those inflatable ball pits. She loves balls so I know she will really enjoy that. I want to get her a pink push and ride toy car thing. One of those little slides with the swing. I want to get her one on those little chairs for toddlers because she uses everything she can as a chair. I know I have to pick maybe two of those or her dad will freak out. We are also in to those toys that help them learn if theirs ABC's, counting, shapes extra we have no problem buying it so I'm sure there be a few toys like that. I'm sure I'll find more things to add to the list before I have to decide but the ball pit in for sure.
