Allergic to milk..

Stacie - posted on 08/06/2010 ( 2 moms have responded )

We just took Jackson to an allergist and we found out that he has a milk allergy. The doctor said no milk, cheese, butter, ice cream, or anything that may contain milk. Has anyone else had issues with this allergy? I am hoping that he grows out of it.

I have grown into my allergy of dairy products and Ava seems to be allergic too. It can be very hard to stay clear of it and a lot of people just don't don't understand. I find it really hard trying to explain to people at dinner party's why I can't eat dessert or why I won't let Ava have an ice cream !

It gets easier though, personally I have found I can eat a very small amount of dairy everyday but I know very quickly when I have overdone it. Good luck I'm sure you will find a balance that works for you !!!

My brother did. He had to have soy everything (to drink, made into ice cream etc) for quite a while. It was really gross stuff 30 years ago. He had bad allergies to everything dairy. I don't remember when he outgrew it exactly but by the time he was a teenager he was drinking milk out of the container by the gallon. So it is certainly possible to outgrow the allergy.
