if youre only worried about the mess in public and not at home, try feeding before you go out then while youre out the baby can just eat the puffs or yogurt drops. we just started giving our 7 month old teeny pieces of bread, pancakes, or sweet potato fries while out- she has no teeth. with our first daughter, my husband would always leave a better tip based on the mess she made (also pick up some of the mess before we leave). also, most people are understanding that infants are messy so you shouldnt worry too much!

I'm finding myself in a similar situation. My daughter would much rather feed herself, and she does okay with what we've given so far, but I'm afraid she won't be getting enough of what she needs with what I have given her so far. With a history of allergies in the family, I don't want to try too many new things at once. I know this is not much help, but I figured I'd let you know others are having this issue as well. I'd be curious to hear what others have to say!

Go online and Google "Baby Led Weaning" I purchased the book and researched about this because this is how I wanted to wean my lil guy. He didn't have the same idea but it may help you on how to go about it. Some good suggestions about clean up and how to present their food.

Try changing the spoon. Sometimes some spoons can be hard and the edge is not smooth and too large. Get one that is small, soft and flexible with smooth edges. This is a tricky one for sure....if it's not the spoon then let's hope it is a phase??
