Chicken Pox Vaccination - BAD RASH

My son got his chicken pox vac. about a week ago and just broke out in a terrible rash that looks just like the chicken pox. They said this could possibly be a side effect but it looks way worst than I thought, it's all over his back and tummy no where else. It doesn't seem to bother him and i've been giving him benedryl but it's not working. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this before and what to do for it, also how long will it last??? Thanks in advance!

My son got it two weeks after his MMR shot. He has a high fever of 103 and that rash all over. They said it was a small case of the measles. He was miserable...if that's the small case, I would hate to see it full blown. Anyway, the rash disappeared after 3 days and his fever as well. I'm not one to run to the doctor but I did take him for this. Mostly because of the high fever. Good luck.

My daughter had her MMR vaccination 4 weeks ago, and 2 weeks ago got the same type of rash, all over her chest and stomach and back. The beginning of this week it started to bother her and she has been scratching it a lot, so I took her to the doctor. He said it looks more like an allergic reaction to something than a reaction to the vaccine, and said it's probably a food allergy. I would call your doctor and ask, just to be safe. Benadryl doesn't work on my daughter's rash either. We are just pulling out common allergens one at a time.

We skipped that vaccination too. For a few reasons, for 1, because I'd rather her get the actual disease and have a better immune system over chicken pox, and for 2 because she is allergic to eggs and can't get it anyways.

No I haven't seen it before. I opted not to give my son that vac. I do know that a lot of moms have said that their kids would get a rash or even the chicken poxes from the vac. I think it runs it course like it would if he had gotten the chicken pox, so bad for a few days and slowly gets better for a week or two.
