How often and What types of foods and drinks a day?

What type of foods do you feed your 12 month old and how often? I also was wondering how many times a day and how much milk do you give your child? I am switching my son onto milk and am giving him more people food now and it has been difficult to understand when he is hungry to when he is just crabby so I am curious to see how much other kids are eating and what kinds of food as well. Thanks

Hey Kristen, here is an example of my son's eating schedule:

-Breakfast: A handful of cheerios, blueberry cream cheese toast, & 1 container of yogurt
-Mid morning snack: Fruit
-Naptime: 8oz of whole milk
-Lunch: Either a cheese sandwich OR a seedless black raspberry jelly sandwich, fruit, and a container of veggies.
-Mid afternoon snack: A container of yogurt (he loves his yogurt!) or applesauce
-Dinner: Either egg noodles with sauce, chicken noodle soup w/ crackers, baked chicken, or another sandwich and more fruit & veggies. Sometimes I give him 2 or 3 cinnamon teddy graham crackers dipped in milk for a snack.
Bedtime: 8oz of whole milk

I try to give him water throughout the day in a regular cup, too. Some days he'll eat everything I put in front of him & other days he throws his food on the floor or gives it to the dog lol. Hope this helps a little. :)

i feed my son what ever is fixed for dinner unless it's spicey or real greasy,then i will fix him something different.He is usually up at 9ish and eats a egg and nurses,lunch he eats a sandwich or chicken nuggets and a cup of juice/milk and dinner its usually a meat(steak,chops diced real small) 2 veggies,mac n cheese and potatoes and a cuppie then cheerios through out the day for a snack and nursing whenever he chooses

My daughter eats just about anything. If we are having something spicy for supper I will feed her a jar of baby food but otherwise she eats what my husband and I eat. At her 1 year check up last week the doctor informed me that she should be consuming at least 3 cups of whole milk, a maximum of 6oz of juice (any type) and the rest water. I was concerned that I was feeding her too much/too little so he said that she should have about 1,100 calories daily! She weighs 25lbs.

My LO eats about every 4 hrs with a snack in between is she is fussy. She gets an 8 oz bottle in the AM with breakfast and 8 oz at night about 30 min. before bed time.
She eats about anything you give her. Cheerieos, Blueberry Waffles (without butter or syrup), chesse at snack time, avacada, cucumbers, garlic toast, any of the gerber toddler meals and just about anything else that I am eating. She isn't picky.... I just make sure if I give her something new I sit with her while she eats just to make sure she is able to eat it without problems.

My little man eats so well - we're really lucky. He'll breastfeed in the morning (around 6 a.m.), have some cereal, or eggs and toast. Then a snack at about 8:30 - 9:00 - then a nap from 10-1 - then a big lunch at 1, followed by a snack at 3 and a breastfeed when I get home at 5:30, a big dinner at six and then a breastfeed before bed.

Lately, he's been eating a little less - teething with no ceremony, but not fond of chewing. I found that the best protein at this time is fish - he loves it.

Sleeps 8pm-8am
Breakfest is a waffle, cup of almond milk, lots of fruit..
snack, kids organic energy bar or some more fruit
Lunch, organic chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, organic fish sticks, fruit and more fruit or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
snack: pretty much anything
Dinner: pretty much same as lunch with veggies
also lots and lots of water and organic wild berry juices during the day
before bed he gets a snack and a cup of almond milk..
he is not a fan of veggies i wish he was...he eats sooo much food sometimes more than me in a day, however he is a very typical size about 22lbs.. he eats pretty much anything we do also, even spicy foods like salsa guacomole and things like that.. he also loves, loves loves hummus, I only buy organic foods for him when he is eating at home, however my husband and i go out to eat about three times a weeks so i try my hardest to give him as much organic as possible at home... i also give him a liquid organic wholefood vitamin each day.. his blood count are great! says the doc..

Abby is severely allergic to milk and eggs, so I basically make her "baby" food. Instead of puree it, I make it really chunky (like stage 3) or cut it into cubes (like the graduates). For breafast, she gets 4oz of fruit (apples, pears, mango, etc) or half a banana. Lunch she eats another 4oz of a veggie or veggiefruit (squash, avacado, pumpkin, etc) Dinner she gets 6oz of a veggie (baked sweet potato, greenbeans, peas, carrots, etc) She usually nurses at 6am, 8am, 10am, 2pm, 4pm, and 8pm. She eats her meals at 8am, 12pm, and 6pm. At night, she wakes up at 1am and 5am. (She sleeps from 8-6, naps 10-11am and again from 230-5pm)

This is not an exact scedule, this is her rountine that she has set for herself. (I am not a fan of parent led sceduling)

I have been trying to keep her on her regular schedule since birth and it seems to work. So when she wakes up, and after changed, she eats breakfast, then about 11:30 she has lunch, 1:30 juice, at 4:30 she has dinner. 6:30 milk inbetween times she may want snacks. Marissa is picky about eating. she loves grapes, noodles, cheese, banannas mostly. Oh and chicken.

this has also helped me! i feel my boy eats all day long!! hes still having 600mls a day of toddler formula as well...big boy lol
