My baby hates tummy time

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

My daughter is 7 months old, she can sit all by herself, as soon as we put her on her belly she cries. Should I just leave her there and let her cry or should I give in and just let her sit.

HI Nanette, think of all the babies as little people and have their own personalities and preferences. My daughter loves been on her stomach and standing up but can't crawl yet and does seem like she's interested in crawling at all.

So, don't worry, your daughter lovew sitting up and maybe another baby loves to do something else. We can't all be the same and that's what makes us individuals.

Thanks. I do get on the floor with her and she still doesn't like it. lol. O well. If it makes her happy to be sitting I guess I will just let her sit. She gets mad that she can't get anywhere tho. I keep telling her that she has to crawl if she wants something. lol. or roll. Thanks for the advice. I keep seeing on here how everyones babies are rolling, crawling and pulling themselves up onto things and even saying words. Im like all mines doing is sitting and babbling. Her docs not worried so im trying to be worried.

First, make sure you're not doing tummy time too soon after a meal. A full belly can make it uncomfortable and make sure your little one isn't having trouble with gas or things like acid reflux.

I don't think there's anything wrong with letting them fuss for a minute or two but there are things you can do to try and make it more enjoyable. Try lying on the floor with them or have a fun mat for them to lie on. Maybe just putting a small pillow underneath their chest might help. Try not to get too bothered by it though. Just do what you can and know some babies just prefer certain things. No biggy. :-)

Hi daughter is almost 8 months and also hates her tummy time. She will spend a max 2 mins and then she wants up..she doesnt roll over...which I just think its cause she hates being on her stomach so why would she? lol I would just let her sit..and as she gets stronger she will move to her stomach and roll on her just takes time and patience. My daughter will move from sitting up to on her stomach to reach a toy...she tries to roll to her back but gets frustrated so I help her. As long as she is happy sitting I would just let her sit as long as she wants! Eventually she will want to be on her tummy more!!
