H was born 09/18/09. He takes one two-hour nap at 12:30 each day. I was against going to one nap at first, b/c he was coming home from daycare so tired we could barely get him to eat dinner. BUT - going to one longer nap fixed that. And he sleeps a little longer at night too! We get more than 12 hours some nights!

Hi am trying to get my 8 month old to sleep in his own cot without being bf to sleep. The night time isnt too bad but if I put him down during the day he gets hysterical. Today put him down ar 13:30 went into him every 10 mins but gave up after an hour and a half, put him down there again an hour ago and same checking him every 10 mins. He is so upset, screeching. Will he get used to this?

My son for the longest time wouldn't nap during the day unless we went for a drive but in the last few weeks is napping at about 10.30am and 3.30pm.

My son wakes up between 8-9 am, goes down for a nap between 12:30-1 and sleeps for about 3 hours. Then bed at 8:30. He will take a morning nap if I see he is tired or not feeling well.

My little munchkin goes down for her nap at least an hour to 2 hours after waking up so if she wakes at 8 she sleeps at 10am then she naps again around 4-6. Bedtime is around 9:30-10PM. No sooner or she'll wake in the night ready to play for an hour lol! :) I know when she needs a nap if she is being grumpy or rude (i.e. lays on the floor & fusses a little if you set her down, does things repeatedly if told no, & she sometimes pinches) That's when I know she is ready to take a nap. I ask her if she wants to go Night night & she says yes or walks to her room & we put her to bed for about 1-2 hours. Also if she wakes & is still quiet I let her lay in there if she wants to. Sometimes we just like to lay in bed doing nothing as long as she isn't crying if she wants to stay in bed for a little longer I let her.

Hope this helped, even though I wrote a story for you! :)

During the week when she goes to daycare she typically naps for about 90 minutes around 9:30 AM and another hour nap around 3:30 or 4 PM. During the weekend, she fights naps. Weekend is often just one nap in the early afternoon. But as soon as I think I have it figured out, she changes her pattern.

My daughter is 14 months on the 16th. She wakes at 8am, goes back to bed at 11am, wakes again at 2pm, goes back to bed around 5pm for about an hour, has her dinner, bath etc routine, then back in bed for the rest of the night at 8pm.

Not enough sleep = a VERY unhappy Princess and heaven help me if I upset her routine.

My girl born Sept 14 09. She has one nap during the day I put her down at 12.30pm wakes up around 3.30pm. Then she goes down for the night at 7.30pm and I don't hear from her until 7.30am the next morning so I'm not too worry about how much sleep she gets during the day because I know she sleeps at night.

Bella is 14 months old (9-1-09). She goes down around 8:30pm and sleeps until 7:30am. Then she goes down 10:30a-12p and then again from 3:30p-5p. I have found that when she does miss her morning nap and go down around 1 she still only sleeps for 2 hours and she just can't make it all the way from 3 until 8p-8:30. Then if she goes down early, she wakes up at 5am.

My daughter is 14 months and has been going down for 2 naps at the same time since she was about 6 months old. In the morning at 10 for 2 hours and in the afternoon at 3 for two hours. She goes to bed between 8 and 8:30, and is usually up between 7 and 8am. She's always been a good sleeper. Although on occasion (rarely) she will skip the morning nap an take an afternoon nap at 1 until 4ish.

I try to skip that and when I am able to she will go down for a nap at 11:30-1:30. and then again (but doesnt sleep at 4-6pm. i am really trying to stick with the 11:30- 1:30 naps although that is during the time all her kids event go on.... just cant win. She is in bed by 8 and usually fast asleep shortly after that. It seemed so much easier when it was the morniong and then afternoon nap!

My baby girl was born 9/26/09 so she's a little over 13months. She shares a room with her 2-1/2 year old brother so it can get tricky sometimes. Usually they're both up at 6:30a and she'll want to lay down @ 9:30-10a for an hour. After lunch I try to put them both down usually by 1pm until 3pm or longer sometimes. She'll sometimes not settle down so I'll take her to nap with me until her brother wakes up and then she'll oftentimes want to sleep longer until 4:30p. Bedtime is 7:30p for her and 8:30p for him. Seems to work well for them, and they seem to enjoy sharing a room!

Every baby is different. My boys where down to one nap at this age too. When Kaleb was 14mo (he's now 6) he was sleeping from 1-3pm I believe. And Noah (4 now) was sleeping from 12-2pm. They where both always in bed by 730/8 and then up at 730/8. Abby however sleeps from 730/8- about 7 because I have to wake her up to take my oldest to school but will sometimes stay asleep in the car until 730. And then she naps in my lap or on me at 10-11ish and then naps again from 230-5. So she is getting 15hrs of sleep a day!

Wow, I am a bit surprised at all the Sept babies already down to one nap, and many less than two hours!! My twin girls were born 9/3 and are 14 mos. They wake 6:30-ish and nap around 9 for 1 1/2 hours and again at about 2:30 for about 2 hours, sometimes more. They get their bath at 7pm and by 8pm, they just finished their bedtime bottle, get teeth brushed, and go straight to sleep. Sleep thru the night unless sick, teething, etc. I read most drop morning nap around 18 mos. I have one baby who will be ready sooner than the other, so I realize they all are different. I just think such little, growing bodies need plenty of sleep!!

Abby wakes up around 7am, takes a quick power nap around 10ish (usually in my lap since we are always out and about during that time) and then takes a good nap from 230-5pm every day. And then she is in bed by 8pm.

My daughter was born on 09/09/09 and we she is just starting to try to get rid of the am nap. At daycare she ususally only takes her afternoon nap (for about 2 weeks now) but on weekends she still wants the 2 so we give it to her. Her am nap is about 1 hour and the afternoon nap is between 1.5 and 2 hours.

[deleted account]

E wakes at 9 everyday and if I don't get him in bed at 11, he'll put himself to sleep anywhere in the floor of the house, in my granddaughter's boucy chair, or standing in the window at 12-12:30. He's back up at 2 no later than 2:15 cause we're off to get the bigger boys from school. He's usually snacking at 4 while we're finishing homework and kitchen cleaning then he's ready to nap again, falling asleep anywhere til 5 maybe 6. However, he's up more than twice a night trying to get G-man to play with him.

Poor little dude, if G-man wakes, he turns back on the sleepytime cd, kisses the baby gives him more covers and leaves the room. G wants computer time and a baby running loose in the house means the parents will get up and he will not get computer time. That's been happening at 5-6 every morning.

I feel cheated. My little girl has been the best sleeper until she turned 1. But her naps from 9-12 months were still only 3 45mins. She sleeps through the night, however only takes one nap of about 45 minutes in the middle of the day. Something wakes her and I can't get her to resettle. Sometimes if I need her to sleep (I am now 35 weeks pregnant with no 2) I can take her to bed with me and she may sleep for another hour.

Wow maybe I shd be getting my son on to one long nap, we wakes between 5:30/6:30 am and by 9/9:30 he's ready for a sleep and does so for an hour and a half, then about 1:30/2 he will go down again for sometimes 2 hours then he's back in bed by 7 but sometimes he's a walking zombi by 6pm and sleeps right through.. He's very active and a big strong boy so maybe he just needs his rest?!

my son takes his nap at 1-ish usually 2-3 hrs. sleeps 9-9 straight through the night. I've read at this age they need about 2 hours of napping give or take so if they only sleep an hour at a time then go for two naps, but if they get it all in one then take out morning napping. whichever works best for your little one.

My son is 13 months, and he takes one nap a day. I put him down for a nap between 1-1:30, unless he sleeps past 7am. For a while, he was sleeping no more than about 50 minutes. This week, though, he's been napping upwards of 4 hours. I don't know what's going on. He was diagnosed with a sinus infection last week, so that may have had something to do with his poor sleeping. Luckily though, even when he takes a 4 hour nap, he is still in bed by 9-normally bedtime is between 8-8:30.

It depends on the day for my son. For the longest time he was taking 2 and even 3 naps throughout the day, about an hour a piece. Lately I have been trying to just do 1 nap at around 11am or so, and he will sleep for like 2 hours or more. He does seem to be better on the days that this happens. Although there are some days when he wakes up way to early for one reason or another and he will be really tired earlier then 11 so I will put him down in the morning and then again later in the day.

My girl is 14 months born sept 2 09. She is only going down now in the afternoons. I kind of weaned her off her morning naps about a month and a half ago. It was getting to much. She would sleep in the morning sometimes for an hour then she would sleep an hour an a half maybe 2 then by 6 she was cranky again wanting bedtime but she'd be awake to early and she wasn't sticking to any real schedule. When I started weaning her off her morning naps she was happier and a little more adventurous i want to say. I dunno she had more energy and she started sleeping for a good 2 hours in the afternoon, sometimes more. Then she didn't need an after supper nap at all and she was super till bedtime at 8 8:30. It made it easier for everyone including her.
