Hi :) From what I read Earths Best rice cereal is best :)

This is an excerpt from the book Super Baby Food

Commercial iron-fortified baby rice cereal is the first choice of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Rice is very easily digested, is rarely an allergen, and thins readily when added to liquid. Most commercial cereals are refined and processed. Earth's Best is not--it is made from whole brown rice and is organic. If you wish to use commercial baby cereal, I highly recommend Earth's Best. Find it at some supermarkets, all natural foods stores, or order from some baby product catalogs or from mail order natural foods companies (page 134). Store opened boxes of cereal in a cool, dry place for up to 1 month. After 1 month, the cereal's nutrient content begins to decrease.

I have to say after reading all that I have I don't think I am going to worry too much about rice cereal..... I believe bub is getting all the iron needed until 6 months from breastmilk and then after that I will give bub foods high in iron.... see the complementary feeding article in the link below:

So I am going to try bub on an organic wholegrain brown rice cereal (I live in Australia and we don't get Earth's Best) to start due to the allergy factor (I suffer myself) and then we are going to move on to sweet potato and other yummies.

Well wishes and good luck!

I used Heinz organics with my oldest, but you can't get those in the US. I know a lot of people liked the Earth's Best. They were a little more expensive than the Heinz though, which is why I went with Heinz.

So far my son is just eating rice cereal. I purchased Earth's Best Rice Cereal. My babies r us only carries Earth Best and Gerber organic options but I want to make sure that these are the brands out there. I will definately keep you updated if I find out any more info.

The only one we've used so far is Earth's Best Organic. The only ingredients in the vegetables are organic vegetables and water, which is important to me. However, some fruits had acids mixed in. I've heard Gerbers has a good organic line. If I cannot find fruits without added acids and sugars, I may be making my own. Let me know if you come across anything!
