My little boy will be one 9/30 he has always loved his sippy cup with water only. We want to start putting milk in it and be done with the bottle...however he does not want anything in it other than water. Just wondering what to do or if anyone else is having this problem?

Try a different type of sippy cup for the milk. Our son has been taking BM in a Nuby sippy cup for a few months (he was one yesterday) and drinks water out of any other type of cup.....

my daughter kicked the bottle and formula a couple weeks before her first birthday (9/10) we started giving her milk in a cup when she started this. She wouldn't take it at first...but we kept trying and trying and eventually she just took it and now she drinks with no problem. Just repetition thats all i can suggest.

Don't give him a choice! He will eventually learn that the cup is the only way he will get his milk or juice etc. That is what I am doing with my now 1 year old ( Ok, he just turned 1 today!) But I've raised a now 22 year old son and a 21 year old son. That is the same thing I did then.

not at all she loves her sippy cup all the time. I want to do the same thing but day care keeps giving the bottle. My goal in the semi near future is to have her only use a bottle at bedtime, then none at all

I haven't had that issue (yet) and this might just endup being a silly idea, but have you tried finding a second sippy cup. If you can find another cup that they will drink out of, maybe they will take the milk from that one.... Just a thought. Good Luck!

We tried Ava on a few different sippy cups to practise before taking the bottle away. I found a sippy cup with a straw was her favourite for her milk, but she still prefers water out of a soft tipped sippy. We are now on day 2 of no bottles and so far so good.

My advise would be to practise a few times with no pressure, and if he doesn't like it than switch to a bottle until you find a cup he will accept ! When your relaxed helps baby to be relaxed !

I'd say just continue putting small amounts of milk into the sippy cup and I'm sure one day he'll decide to drink from it. This is what worked for my daughter! (Although, we use coconut milk that is watered down, so maybe she preferred the sweeter taste?)

My son will drink fine from a sippy cup but my daughter just chews on it too.... she has to be thirsty to take anything from it. I dont think sippy cups are bad for them... it will only cause tooth decay if u just give it to them and they walk around with it taking occasional sips when they want. You're supposed to give it to them for a drink let them drink until they stop and then take it away and offer it half hour or so later. Plus its only bad for tooth decay if there's milk or juice or something like that in it... water wont do much!!!! I'd be happy if mine just drank water from their sippy cup. Least its healthy for him :)

MY DAUGHTER WILL NOT TAKE SIPPY CUP AT ALL, WE TRIED MANY EVEN THE MOST EXPENSIVE.. SHE KNOS HOW BUT SHE JUST CHEWS ON IT... BUT I READ NOT TO ENCOURAGE SIPPY CUPS AS THEY CAUSE TOOTH DECAY REAL QUICK BECAUSE OF THE CONSTANT SUCKING..

Thanks ladies.....glad to hear Im not the only one having a problem. A few of my girlfriends have told me to just keep putting the milk in his sippy cup and he will take to it. I did start putting juice in his cup(Im so not happy....I worked at a ped. dentist so I saw lots of cavities due to juice) and he seemed to take to his sippy a little more. Hopefully it gets better:)

Well, I'm having trouble getting my son to drink out of anything other than his bottle. I have tried FIVE different types of sippy cups, plus a regular cup & he wants nothing to do with any of them. I've tried to straw type sippy so he wouldn't have to tilt it, but he doesn't understand how to suck from a straw. I'm at a loss of what to do.

i had that problem, but what i did was i got him a straw cup and began the water in that...once he got used to water in the straw cup, i began reintroducing the sippy with the milk...since then, we've had no issues...gl!

Yes. I'm still breastfeeding and wanted to put breastmilk in his cup but he won't drink it. He will only drink water and cold drink. I've tried formula and he still won't. I've tried cow's milk and he still won't. I've tried Nesquick or Milo with cow's milk and he still won't. I've tried every trick in the book but he just isn't stupid.
