I just want to share my solution for not being able to breastfeed. With my daughter, I was not able to get her to latch on. I have flat nipples. I tried and tried to get her to latch on and even got help from lactation consultants and ended up pumping and feeding her with a bottle for 3 months. Well now, with my son that is 6 weeks old, I use the nipple shield. It covers your nipple and the baby sucks your nipple up through the shield. There are 4 holes in which the milk goes through. You can probably find the nipple shield anywhere but I found it at Target. It is a Medela brand item. I am able to successfully breastfeed my son and it has been working great! I hope that other moms out there will be able to successfully breastfeed using this item. It is sooo much easier than pumping and feeding. It takes less time, you don't have to wash bottles all day, your baby doesn't have to go hungry while you are pumping, and your breasts hold the perfect temp of milk so your baby isn't going hungry while you warm up a bottle. I still recommend pumping every now and then so that your baby is still used to drinking from a bottle and you don't have to worry about that later. Plus it is nice to have my husband feed him a bottle every now and then. They get to bond and then I can hang out with my daughter. :)

Same here ! It worked wonders for me too (had flat nipples). I first started off with the shield and then gradually got my daughter to suck directly. If you are still breastfeeding try to get her to suck directly. You may start off with the shield and as your nipples start shaping up try and make your baby suck directly. Eventually the nipples will get into the proper shape. Initially she refused to suck directly, but, then with little persistence and patience it worked. Took just two days for her to get out of the nipple habit. Though I still miss the shield since with the shield I could make out how much milk was flowing!
