I've just recently started my 6.5month old daughter on rice cereal for brekki, but as for pureed foods, we've skipped them completely and gone straight to sticks of whole food. Its called baby led weaning, where the baby decides on what to eat. So far we've only tried them banana & pumpkin, just waiting the few days between new foods. I only offer the food once day atm, but will increase it to twice a day in a few weeks. Milk and water really are the only liquids they should be drinking, juice is unnecessary. My DD won't talk a sippy cup as yet, but we've been trying, I'm sure she'll eventualy get the hang of it.

I started off solids at 5.5mos, by introducing mash avocados and bananas, because it's no-cook foods and easy to feed/ prepare. She loved it day by day.

At 6mos, she was on 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of which 30-40mins after a feed. At this age, breastmilk/formula should be their only diet hence a teaspoon or two of solids is sufficient. I topped up to 1-2 tablespoons as she got older at 8months. Now at 11mos, I give her oat porridge (organix brand) for breakfast, fruits/ veggies for lunch and carbo/meats for dinner. she eats just about everything I prepare: meats, most fruits and veggies.

Have fun :)

We're doing baby led weaning with our baby (he's 6 months and 2 weeks now)

We're following the mantra, that for the first year "food is fun".

As an exclusively breast fed baby for the first 6 months, with a mom who loves garlic, he's not too interested in his rice cereal. He does however love softly cooked baby potatoes smothered in garlic (no pureed food), softly cook chunks of sweet potato and butternut.

Apparently you shouldn't introduce meat or cows milk for the first year, so so far it's just been veggies, fruit, and yogurt (which is apparently OK, even though it's made from cows milk, as it's easy to digest)

He's really loving it. Sometimes though, you don't think he's eaten anything, but the next day his nappy tells a different story!

Ya I would just try with a sippy cup of water at every meal and through out the day just dont let her fill up on water. My daughter would only ever take a sippy cup and never would have anything to do with a bottle. Just keep trying and they get the hang of it, I also steralized them until she was just over one to be safe but now just wash and rinse it really hot water

My DD is 6.5 months old and has been doing rice cereal since 2 months per doctors orders as her acid reflex was so harsh .. At 4 months he had me start one fruit or veggie every other 3 to 4 days , then he has me giving her 4 oz juice total, two bottles with 2 oz juice and 2 oz water as to use the juice to help keep the stool moving since food tends to be a pooper stopper upper lol ... She is adjusting well and eats cereal in the morning or breakfast, a veggie & fruit for lunch and a meat and veggie for dinner 3 4oz bottles of formula and 2 sippy's of juice , she was 2 months premature and still in the bottom percentile so will probably end up be upped on her food intake at her next appointment , I'm not a by the book mommy , I'm a by dr request and what works for my babies type parent... She's healthy and happy and so am I ...

I started off with doing rice cereal for breakfast, then after a week due breakfast and maybe some pureed veggies or fruit for lunch. Take it slow trying one new thing at a time and for a few days before changing so you can see if they have any reaction to what your feeding them. As for the sippy cup juice I would change it to just straight water as you dont want get them having a sweet tooth and juice really has no benifit to them
