My LO is having trouble having bowel movements. She is 9mnths old and has been to the dr. She is taking a stool softener and she has been restricted from starches until we can fix the problem.

We were also told to use a liquid suppository which worked that time but we continue to have the same problem. I am at my wits end. She is breastfed so I thought she shouldnt have this many problems.

She is not constipated but gets compacted and since it hurts she holds it and wont go which in turn just makes matters worse. Does anyone know of any home remedies I can try?

She eats fruit and veggies, drinks water and juice. It breaks my heart everytimeshe needs to go and it hurts her. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

She would benefit from a magnesium supplement. If she is eating vegetables and getting enough fluid, it could be a motility problem. Magnesium supports the nerves and muscles and helps the colon with the peristalis movement, the involuntary contractions that propels the contents of the colon through and out. Do some research and you will find this info to be true. The powdered magnesium supplement called Natural Calm is an excellent one to use. You can call the company's customer service representative and they can tell you the dosage to give your child

What will she eat if I stop all that? I have heard about people offering probiotics mixed in food, have you?

Maybe stop the fruits and veggies and juice, and limit starches for yourself. It's hard to know what is causing the reaction for her, so cut it all out of her diet and limit it in yours, and take some fiber supplements to make sure she is getting enough in your breast milk. Once she is back to regular, slowly add the other foods back into her diet and monitor how she does. Hope it gets better soon!
