CIO really works for us at night. I also try to tire him out during the day and he eats off my plate most of the time. He's sick right now so he hasnt been sleep through the night but he takes long naps. Does he crawl? Teething? If not he may have an ear infection?

My son was born October 24th. He has a rough time going to sleep by himself. My pediatrician said if I ever had any issues to try "The Happiest Baby on the Block" book. I looked through the book but it didn't give a clear solution. So I looked through the parenting books and found "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" by Dr. Richard Ferber. He is the one who came up with the CIO theory BUT you need to read his book!! It gives solutions for all sorts of sleep problems. And there is more to the CIO way of getting them to sleep. I thought you just walked out/stayed in the room until they cried themselves to sleep. WRONG! There is WAY more to it than that. Trust me when I say you need to get this book. I'm only on day 2 of solving my son's sleep problem and it is working!! I feel so much better about what I'm doing too.

I would really recommend the sleep easy solution- its a dvd we bought when our son was 7 months old. He was only sleeping for 2 hours at a time and I hear you- you feeling like you are dying. It uses verbal reassurance to help your child learn to sleep on their own. The theory is if we get them to sleep, when they wake in the night (as part of their sleep cycle) they can't go back to sleep on their own and scream for Mum to get them back to sleep. We took away AJ's paci and swaddle and replaced it with a cloth lovie, and it worked. It took 3 night's but now he sleeps all night (7pm to 6am) most nights and has 4 hours of nap time during the day. It is amazing and really worked for us- hope that helps.

My son was born Oct. 15th, 2009. He used to be just like this. Play with him more during the day to tire him out! Feed him what you eat. Give him a cereal bottle at night. Should help!

is he teething? the only time my daughter has trouble sleeping is when she's getting a tooth, it lasts for about five days or so and is really frustrating. also how is your babe eating? make sure he has a full belly when he lays down for the night and that might help him sleep longer

My Son had trouble sleeping thru the night when we moved to a new place. We had to start all over. We put him in bed with us for about a month. Once he got used to that he moved the pack in play back in out room and put him in that with his night bottle (abut 9 or 10 pm). He will usually fall asleep right after he is done or while he is drinking it. Do you have him on table foods yet? It could be that he is not getting what he needs during the day to hold him. I use stage 3 foods and the gerbergraduate snack with his milk in the afternoon. Hope this helps.

i cant help but I have been dealing with this for what seems like forever. My daughter is refusing to nap. I have tried CIO it doesnt work. she still gets up at night. I was at a family reunion this weekend and all the other babies would nap and sleep all night. Mine was the last one to go to bed at night and the first one to wake up and wouldnt nap.

I understand, but can't help. thanks for the question though, Ill be reading this looking for other responses.

Yeah, that's not good - I don't think Cry it Out works for every child. Have you tried giving him more carbohydrates?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but have you tried calling your pediatrician? They may have some really good tips for you? :) Good luck!
