potty training with no chair

hi my son is almost 15 month his name is Matthew. i was wondering when is the best time to potty train him? my sister didnt use the special chair when she potty train her son, she used the sit adaptor that you just put in top of the toilet, is that a good idea or is it better to use the chair?

I have actually read that using the sit adaptor on the toilet is better because there is one less transition to go through plus clean up (in theory LOL!) is easier. The only thing is, in order to do #2 your son will need a foot rest so he can push. However, even with a foot stool you will have to help him get on and off at the beginning.

With that being said I will be starting with a potty because I have twin girls and I am hoping if one sees her sister use it she might go to and this lets them use the potty at the same time. Also since there are two of them I think it is good idea to go with the option that requires the least amount of help from me and gives them the most independence.

But I have never actually toilette trained before so I a curious what experienced moms have to say.
