How much tummy time do you give your baby a day. My little girl wont stand it for more than a few minutes- she can hold herself up on her arms for a little while but gets tired and headbutts the floor! So she getd frustrated and starts crying and hasnt yet learnt to roll over. I know its important for them to have tummy time but how much if shes getting annoyed by it?

My daughter only does it about 5 minutes at a time then gets cranky. So then I stop as well. I use my boppy pillow to help her and she likes it a ton more. So I would start there until she gets comfortable then the floor without boppy.

My son will only do 1-2mins also. Sometimes even less. We just had our 2mo check up & Dr. said as long as he is getting 1-2min a couple times a day that is good.

I try to fit it in as much as I can every day. My daughter does not like it at all. So I try to do it for 5 miniutes 6 or 7 times through out the day. Sometimes when she is in a good mood, I can get her to go a whole 15 minutes straight.

I posted this before but a good alternative to babies who hate tummy time is to use an excersize ball. You can hold their waist and roll them on the ball. It's using the same muscles for them to hold themselves on the ball.

My daughter handles a few minutes on the floor but never gets mad when using the ball.

Quoting Michelle:

I've tried tummy with and without a pillow. She is only okay for a few minutes before she starts fussing. Sometimes she will roll over, but usually she just gets upset. Any ideas?

You could try laying on your back with your daughter on your stomach.

My son loves tummy time when he is on his "tummy time pillow". He will do it for about 10 min or so. I also do tummy time w/ out the pillow and he is good for about 2 min or so before he starts eating the floor out of frustration. I just keep doing it every day. Have you tried a tummy time pillow?

My son hates tummy time too! He also has a very strong head. I honestly only do about 5-10 minutes a week with him. Alot of times I"ll kind of lay him on my chest and he likes that alot better!

That is exactly what my daughter does. I just try it once in the morning and again in the late afternoon.

I have three little ones and they all did tummy time very well, mine actually hated being put on their backs. But I think is also because they slept on their stomaches. That is the only they would go to sleep so that is they way i would let them sleep.

My little girl hates it too, she just trys to eat the carpet! I find she lifts her head when i put her on my shoulder, and she is getting alot better at that so i figure i don't need to make her stressed by putting her on her tummy when she doesn't like it.

I do tummy time with my son a few times a day for varying amounts of time. Sometimes its 15 minutes sometimes only a minute. It just depends on his mood.

You could always try laying on your back and having your daughter on your stomach. I did this for the first month because my son didn't like being put down.

That's funny my son is the same way! He hates it! I'm starting to do it a little more and more every day and it seems like he's getting a bit used to it. I was starting to get a little concerned as well.

My daughter gets really mad when I put her on her tummy. She has the strength to hold her head up and be up on her arms but she doesn't like it. I just try to make her at least a few minutes a day. I figure if she is able to hold herself straight up on my shoulder than she is working those muscles. I also carry her on her tummy a lot on my arm. That might be an alternative for you.

I do tummy time until he isnt having fun, I do it alot on a breastfeeding pillow, cause its easier for him to hold himself up on. I also do it on the arm of the couch, its a leather couch so more rounded then alot of other couches. Sometimes he likes it for 2 minutes sometimes 10, depends on the day
