Hi, my baby is nearly 7 months. He is eating pureed food, but i am absolutely petrified to give him finger foods. I am scared that he is going to choke to death. Any tips?

I was advised not to give finger foods until they are eating lumpier foods rather than the pureed food. I also live in the UK and I know the stage 2 foods are from 7 months. The health visitor said you should start finger foods between 7 and 9 months and here's a few ideas she gave me:

baby crackers
pieces of bread
plain wafer type cookies
dry cereals, like cheerios
cut and well cooked vegetable pieces, like green beans, potatoes, or peas
pieces of soft ripe fruits (bananas, etc.)
small pieces of cheese
cooked pasta
small pieces of well cooked meats

Hope this helps =]

the gerber puffs r great...they basically just melt in their mouth & also use the mesh fresh food holder...my daughter is 6 1/2 months n i give her fruits in there all the time & she loves it. good luck!

my son loves the yogurt puffs and the gerber puffs. They are dissolvable so it is nearly impossible to choke on them. For my son, the first couple of times I cut the melts in half, but now he does fine with a whole one.

Have you given him mum mum cookies they are a good starter. Or bananas also easy to chew. Just watch him carefully.
