Stephanie, I was wondering if you could give an update to your situation, mine is very similar. I believe I am around 4weeks and spotting, I also have lower back pain but feel fine in the abdominal region. I went to the ER and had blood work done. HcG level is at 50 and I was told that by a number that low I may only be 1-2 weeks along, In any case I am going back next week for a follow up. My HcG level will be tested again and if it appears to be rising appropriately then I am told to not worry, but if it isn't I'm likely to have a miscarriage.

Light bleeding during early pregnancy is common. This is because of implantation bleeding, breakthrough bleeding and cervix or vaginal infection. If it is more than heavy with pains it is better to consult doctor as soon as possible. vaginal bleeding during pregnancy may be because of ectopic pregnancy, chorionic hematoma, placenta praevia etc.. In this article they explained each and every possible reasons http://www.momjunction.com/articles/caus...

Having a very LIGHT, brownish period around that time of the month during pregnancy is more common than people realize but if your bleeding more or heavier than normal I would go to the ER ASAP!
