Best friend.

One of my best friends is expecting, she recently found out.

She is a vegan (doesn't eat meat and animal products) and doesn't know what she can and can't eat.

I would help her but i wasn't very fussed on what i should and shouldn't eat while i was pregnant with my daughter.

Could someone tell me what she can and can't eat so i can tell her :)

Thank you :)

I'm not vegan, but my family and I do a lot of veggies with our meals. As long as what she's taking in has the proteins and other vitamins the baby and she will need, she should be okay. Another source to try, if she has internet, look it up, or I was at the library last night and noticed a lot of books on Vegan moms during pregnancy. It's in the reference section and would probably be able to help her out a great deal. Soy products are good too. My best friend is vegan, she wasn't during her pregnancy, but I know she eats a lot of soy, tofu, and nuts and greens. Also, her doctor might be able to recommend supplements to take along with her prenatals just to make sure her body is getting what it needs. Best bet though, the library! At least then she can look through numerous books and write down lists and possible meal ideas over a few week period before returning it.
I hope this helps!

all I can think of is NUTS because I'm a meat eater and I've never really been a big "veggie" fan. Nuts are a good for you and not an animal product...I'm sure others will come up with some more ideas :D
